Hammerdin w/1pt smite questions...

Lvl 84 currently with 1 pt in holy shield and 4 (possibly more? missed quests? haven't double checked yet) extra points.

My questions are...

-should my extra skill points (probably 10 by lvl 90) go to holy shield for more defense and smite damage?...or to resist lightning?...or something else?

-if I gear up like a smite zealot, will I be able to Uber easy? (my skills are just basic hammerdin)...or do I need anything extra/special?

-last one...may not be appropriate for this forum...but, could I get approximate values for Uber gear (that is, assuming build will work) needed on West Ladder?

holy shield always for me.

and for ubering...
i have to say it sound very very hard going 1pt hdin in UT. you got no fana and no maxed HS. meaning harder time to block and more IAS gear.

and gear shouldn't be a problem... you can go very rich way or OK way. anyway, your top things are stacked resists, crushing blow and IAS. resists are the easiest. you don't need CoH. you can prebuff with treachery (shael+thul+lem) and use salvation until you kill meph. crushing blow probably will come from gores and gulli. that should do it. IAS can be a problem.. use the calculator and find out how much you need.
all the gear can be pretty cheap. i guess the most exppensive piece can be grief, which is not must, but highly recommanded.

If you want to do ubers with your Hammerdin putting one point in fana is obviously a given. Hammerdins have more than enough spare points anyways.

Ok, see, I would have totally missed the pt into fanaticism. I thought I could just leave concentration on for damage, and grief phase blade would have enough IAS. Has anybody done Ubers with this build that has an exact strategy to follow?

Also, thanks for the info so far guys. I was actually leaning towards resist lightning.

You do not need fanat. If ppl can smite ubers to death with a heaven's light and salvation (like how it is usually done vs meph when you have crappy gear), you can definitely smite the ubers to death with grief and no fanat. It's 7 frame smite, which is fast enough with grief.

I myself tends to smite Baal with sanctuary (aura) myself. Knockback saves me from mana burn from the ghosts.

You need crushing blow, 1 point smite, life tap, a way to overcome Meph's conviction and a way to deal with te minions.

guill. helm, gore riders give 50% smite which is plenty.

You dont have leach while smiting and you need it against the ubers. Dracs, exile or LW supply autocasting life tap which is best. A wand with charges can provide LT and marrowwalk boots have charges of LT also.
Meph's conviction is -125 to your resists. You can either override with a higher level of conviciton (21+) or stack resists from gear and salvation aura. Some how you need to maintain max resists.

You can use hammers to chop down the minions. It works good.

You need max block to survive. Holy shield makes this much easier and lets you point your stats in life rather than dextarity. I hope you have a lot of life because you will need it. My uber pally has 1400 life with out boo and will have 3200 after. If your life it too low you need to rebuild.

I'm gonna try it with my hammerdin with the right gear and see how it goes. If it's not as easy as I would like it to be, then I'll just make a 1pt smite zealot. Hopefully it will work...even if it just works ok, it would allow me to uber-lvl with a couple buddies and make a 1pt smite uber-doer.

Ok, My hammer din can solo ubers easy i just swap some gear. And i use lightsabre " shael" and then i dont have to use fana. And i have the orginal hammerdin skills. And i love this char becouse it's very easy to get keys and you can take ubers with the same char :thumbsup:

Armor: eni
Amu: Mara
Shield: zaka
Gloves: Draculs
Boots: Gore rider
Belt: Arach
Wep: Lighsabre "shael" omfg 25% light absorbe :cloud9:

Would a Beast runeword be helpful? You could have your Fanaticism + Crushing Blow covered right there. It would free up your aura for somethingelse...
