Merc help

I normally run meph and andy for an average mf run but ive kinda wanted to go a little further than that. I thought about making an entirely new character due to cold immunities, but i decided to just get a merc. Can you get one even after your char is high lvl? also, what is good gear to have on a merc for a blizz mfer. Thanks!!

IIRC in this latest patch, when you hire merc, they will only be 1-5 levels lower than you. This is regardless of what difficulty or act you hire the merc.

Regarding merc gear, you would want maximum damage a merc can deliver so that you'll have an effective CI solution. The gear would depend on your wealth so feel free to post what kind of gear you can afford. If you can afford HRs then probably the best IMO would me a might merc with eObedience(enchant+CB+FHR+resists) + eFort (300ED/life/resists) + maybe Vampgaze (leech, DR).

I can afford most things, the sky is the limit, im just wondering if i could rely completely on my merc to kill cold immune monster.

my merc is pretty gimpy with just tal's helm, duriel's shell, and spire of honor, and he rarely dies. since you have a "sky is the limit" budget, i think your merc should be more than fine.
