View Full Version : meteorb vs blizz
From reading up on sorceresses I came across a heavy static field/blizzard (mainly because static field just seems insanely powerful), but everywhere else I read most are only putting 1 point into SF. The small range seems a bit risky for a sorceress later on. The best reasoning I could think of was +spell items perhaps?
It was roughly
Warmth: 20
Blizzard: 18
Static Field: 9
with a point in shiver and a few points in energy shield. It seemed to make sense...slow mobs while damaging them blizzard/widdle health away with SF and then finish off. But now that I've been browsing the forums more, this seems like a very...strange spec.
While fire didn't catch my eye much a meteorb build seems to be really popular.
Between the two, is there a nice overall solid build that will prevent me from running into too many issues much later in the game? I have seen some warnings over immunities for pure builds so I'm not sure I'm keen on a pure build.
Blizzard based does seem like it could be powerful and safe at the same time. I've literally been playing this game for only a few days so any insight would be vastly appreciated!

blizzy's have the issue of Cold Immunes. while static will knock the tops off' em, it needs your merc to finish them off.
a meteorber (a bad description actually, seeing as they use Fireball/Orb rather than meteor) is a great build that can solo anywhere she wants to go. lightning/orb is also popular.
static field is nice, but only really needs the one point. it'll get boosted by +skills gear.
Ah alright..cold immune..that's kind of a deal breaker for me then - thanks :)
What seems to be the best build around 'meteorb'?

for pvm?
orb hybrids (fireball or lightning, your choice, they both work) don't require super fancy high-end gear to be viable (full tals is awesome) and can solo anywhere in hell. one point in Static is kind of a must whichever way you go.
a pure-lightning build with access to an Infinity stick for their merc can also go anywhere with little problem with immunes. however, this requires an infinity stick to really work.
pure fire and pure cold builds can STOMP all over Andy & Meph, but theres a lot of fire-immunes in hell. so for general all-round pvm'ing, they aren't the best (although with a well kitted out merc they can get the job done, just very slow around fire/cold immunes is all)
mephiz' basic full tals meteorber:
max: orb, fireball, firebolt, meteor.
1point: static, teleport, cold mastery, warmth
spares to fire mastery.
get full tals kit, add in gloves/rings/shield to hit 105% fcr, use any spare slots for more MF.
Yeah mostly looking for PVM builds till I'm more familiar with the game then maybe I'll go back later and make a pvp char.

The BIG range can be risky - if provoking all monsters in its radius. I personally would put max 0.25 skillpoint in it... If I could

Well... it is. Playing a sorc you have no a single skill point or state point to waste. You must see her in her 90-ies just from the beginning... And 1-point wonders are so temptating^^

Meteorb is just this build - read the guide.
