Does the Enhance Damage work on smite damage? or does that mod goes directly to enhance the weapon only?

(I mean, if it enhance the smite damage, I don't understand why people don't want enhance smite damage. wait, even if it doesn't enhance smite damage, why not use it? along with phoenix you are looking at potentially 360% EDmg FROM SHIELD. Add 300% from Fortitude, and that's external 660% EDmg.)

anyways, figure I ask because I just found a Kurast Shield with the Perfect Knight Mod (60% EDmg)

Yes, I think it does. Only ED from weapons doesn't apply.

People don't use phoenix because of the horrible block % and the annoying attack interruptions, oh and it's pretty expensive too.

iirc 65ed is perfect. nonetheless, sticking ed jewels is quite a poor man's phoenix (in sp, vex vex lo jah can be put into so many other good runewords) =P

here's mine =)
Gemmed Sacred Targe

there is always holy shield though =)

but think about 660%!!!!!!! 660% (okay i just looked up...)

665%

combine that with grief... that's one mean donkey smiter (oh and 85% fire resist, 80% lightening resist, fire absorc...)

@razen
is the 665% referred to the ed on phoenix?
max is 465ed..
even that, you're forgoing a possible 45 all resists for a 65ed gain.. =)

fort + phoenix + knight mod

665% =)

don't forget, you still get grief and crush and blow.

yes the 45% resist is real unfortunate. but that can be made up easily through other means.

(helm, ammy, glove, boot, 2 rings, charms, belt)

worst comes to worst, you can always prebuff fade and throw in a 1 pt salvation aura.

You dont really need that %ed.

Normal monsters are chopped to bits pretty easily.

Those with lots of hit points, where huge %ed would help are knocked down with crushing blow.

Here's a quote from my Treatise on Smite Damage Thread:
Part 5 Theoretical Max Damage Calculations

I've run the theoretical max damage calculation and here are the results:

Smite Damage for Theoretical Max is 14,976

Here's the gear I chose for the theoretical max damage calculation (with explanation why):
Helm: rare +2 Paladin skills Diadem with 2os (+2 Skills and ability to socket 2x 40% ED Jewels)
Amulet: Mara's Kaleidoscope (+2 All Skills)(I actually tested a +3 PCombat Amulet but found +2 All Skills did more damage)
Rings: 2x Bul-Kathos’ Wedding Band (+2 All Skills)
Armor: Fortitude (300% ED)
Shield: perfect Knight’s mod (AR/ED) Zakarum Phoenix (65% ED for Knight’s mod and 400% ED for Phoenix)
Weapon: perfect Grief Phase Blade (400% ED)
Switch Weapon/Shield: Herald of Zakarum/perfect Heaven’s Light (+7 Holy Shield prebuff)
Boots: Goreriders (I considered War Travelers for the +damage but was unsure if it had a positive impact or not)
Belt: Arachnid Mesh (+1 All Skills)
Gloves: perfect Steelrends (60% ED)
Charms: Paladin Torch/Annihilus (+4 All Skills)
Skillers: 9x Paladin Combat Grand Charms (I ran both PCombat and POffensive and found that PCombat had the biggest impact on damage)

Totals = +11 All Skills, +9 PCombat Skills, +7 HolyShield prebuff, 1005% Off-Weapon Enhanced Damage

Now be it known that this is strictly a theoretical build. I hope nobody would actually try this as it lacks Crushing Blow, Resists, Life Tap and other important Smiter attributes.
