My current gear vs. full tals

Currently my meteor sorc uses:
shako ptopaz
occy
35 fcr spirit monarch
vipermagi/tal armor
IK belt
war travs
chancies/trang gloves
+2 fire, 25 all res, 25 mana, 12 life, 10 fcr ammy (shame its not +2 sorc)
2x rare 10 fcr rings with random mods like str, resists, mana.
+8 all skills, with extra +2 to fire

Or should I go buy the rest of the tal pieces and use that with chancies/wartravs/spirit? What do you think is going to kill faster?

Well, FCR should be taken at least somewhat into account, even though Meteor is timered, if you use fireball, and of course, tele.

30 from Occy, 35 from spirit, 10 from ammy, 20 from rings = 95%, 10 less that the 105% BP. If you use fists instead, you can drop a ring in favor of, well, whatever you want. :tongue:

I think it's less of a question of "what's going to kill faster" and more of a "what do I need".

Tal's offers good resists and MF at the expense of skills/FCR. Plus, you look like a horned Barney the dinosaur wearing tals. (which is why I never wear it)

Tal's only offers +6 to all skills, and +2 to fire mastery, -15 fire res and it only offers 50% FCR. However, it does offer 115 res all, (and another 33 to light res) massive mana/life/defense boosts and 168 MF. You can get much better +skills/MF/FCR from not using it but you miss out on the mana/life boosts (you can get similar resists). Plus, the non-tals setup is generally more expensive.

If you wear full tals you will:

Do More Damage. the same +skills 6 from set and 2 from spirit. But will also have a higher Fire and Cold mastery and also +cold damage and -fire res.

Reach the FCR breakpoint at 105. Wear magefists as gloves +1 extra fire skills and 20%fcr, 35%fcr from spirit, 50%fcr from set = 105.

More MF than you currently have. Set + 2x 30% nagel rings and war travs.

Better Resist. Your gear gives minimal resists and full tals will give you much more. 115+30 from quests you will be at 45% fire res in hell and the rest will be at 75% in hell, much better than what your gear is offering.

So basically full tals + magefists, war travs, and 2x nagels is much better than what you are currently wearing.

So if I were to replace stuff with, say sojs, arachs, etc., it would still be a virtual tie? I read the "truth about tals" so I'm not sure which one is advantageous.

Well, if you go the high end MF gear route....
Hoto - 40 res/40 FCR/+3 skills
Skullders - +1 skills/100+ MF (with a p topaz, mine is 140 MF)
Arach - +1 skills/20 FCR
2/20/2 Circlet <---- Most expensive piece by far
Travs - 50 MF
2x Nagels - 60 MF
Mara's - 30 res/+2 skills
Chancies - 40 mf
Spirit - +2 skills/35 FCR

+11 skills
70 res all, another 35 res to all but fire
115 FCR (could use a 2/10/2 circlet)
250 MF, depending on what you socket in the circlet, that's either 30 more res all, or 50 mf. (or 48 for people who aren't crazy)

Add in a torch/anni and you have close to maxed res' in hell. My sorc, which uses everything but the 2/20/2 circlet (and only 1x 28 nagel, I use a BK I found as my other ring, none of her gear is perfect) has 45/70/75/70 in hell, and 250 mf, excluding Gheeds (which applies to all chars) If I had perfect gear, it would add another 16 mf and 8 res all. I use one fire res and one light res SC and one 3@/9 GF SC.

Tal's is a good set, I just personally hate it and you can get better stats out of non-tals, (barely) it's just more expensive. For the relative price Tals > pretty much everything.

You can do more damage if you go with the super expensive build. Its not really that much more damage but it is more.

With tals or expensive gear you can get max res and everything else.

Just get tals you will be happy with it. If you feel like adding SoJ's go for it they will just make you do more damage and have more mana.

Alright...hopefully I can trade my nigma DS on my necro to 3 HRs....then get a new one for 2, use leftover 1 for tals. hehehe....
