View Full Version : I may well have found my hybrid build...

While swapping around stats/gear in single player on a Fury/Rabies build, I stumbled upon a combination that nets me upwards/in excess of 12K LIFE. While keeping max block on a Stormshield, 86% FHR, and high resists no less. The only real downside is effective Fury max damage of 9-10k, and one armor. The setup :

Jalal's Mane - Ber
Enigma Dusk Shroud
Blood Crafted Belt w/ 20+ Str, 75+ life, 24% FHR
2x20 dex ravens
Highlord's
Bloodfist
Gores
EBotD Z
Stormshield - Jah
Switch : Rabies gear (we all know this part)

20/20 anni and torch (these alone could gear a smiter...silly pallies)
9x4X SS Life GC's
9x20 life/res scs
1x5fhr/res sc

Stash : ETomb, CtA+Spirit, 3 SS/100 Life ammy, Angelic ring+ammy, 31% DR CoA, 6x5fhr/mod sc's, trang gloves

The Method Behind the Madness : Ok Kell, why in the bloody Nine Perditions of Hell would you stat around enigma?!? Well...I know firsthand the #1 killer on most of my melee PKers was speed. The paladin would swing in outta nowhere and smite anything in his path, the hammerdin catches half the sorcs he'd fought, the frenzybarb would driveby at 1000 mph, and the kicker would come flying in under darkness and telekick the enemy into oblivion. Is this statistical? Nope, but it damn sure works! Also, besides the handy R/W boost, it adds to some of what the other two prime armors do, while massively adding to other things (i.e. +skills=more damage, more rabies, more life, more B.O., and HUGE stat savings). The only thing lacking is resistances, and the only thing I've thought of so far to possibly improve it while keeping my breakpoints intact is a circlet (that would be nigh impossible to spawn, or worse to buy than the ETomb). Speaking of the caster-swatter, with that on you've got like 50-deep stack in hell, possibly more. I had also considered Waterwalks for the extra dex (mind you, only 30 of the 40 is built in statwise, so as to keep max block with Angelic combo on), but the loss of OW at the slated level 95 to complete the character wouldn't have been worth it. I can work around not having Fort, but totally unstoppable damage is too good to lose!

Well, there's my ramble...lemme know what you guys think, if you've ever made one similar, if it's viable, if I've omitted something that shows a glaring weakness, etc. Thanks! Awroooo!!!

~Kell

BIG EDIT : This puppy would also be able to swap out just about anything for 'sorb gear if the morons wanted to play BM. Not my usual cup of tea, but as far as I'm concerned, once you throw the first punch, expect a mouthful of foam coming out of your locked jaw as I stand in the middle of all your traps laughing at the 3 damage from each >=)

so basically you're a fury/rabies druid who stats around enigma, something all the wolf experts frown against most of the time.
a wolf who doesnt stat around enigma can still get 10k life and be alot more versatile.

your rabies damage is going to suck as you cant use bramble now. your fury is not going to be as good cause you dont have fort.

so basically you got weaker versions of both for an extra 2k life.

ive dueled lots of wolfs on east who think it was awesome to stat around enigma and ive yet to see one be thatt successful at it.

So, how do you kill Smiters with only 9k Fury and possibly 34-38k Rabies?

also, the amount of life gained from statting around Enigma is pitiful:

70 strength = 140 life

140 *2 *2 = 560 life gained

So for utterly wrecking your versatility, something a Wolf needs to survive, you gain less than 1k life. IMO Wolves should never be pure vita since the life gained per Druid level is so low. It it was 3-4 LPV then that'd be another story entirely.

Well, having reshuffled him around several times on open before with perfect or near perfect gear, I have yet to find the right combination of gearing to keep max block and break the 10k life barrier. Either the spirit/facet monarch eats too much str, or the SS eats too much dex for max block, and I'd be stuck at somewhere between 8 and 9k.

It's kind of like a puzzle I used to know how to put together, but in my old age, my senile arse has forgotten how!

8-9k should be enough do tank anyone. Iono, it just like the extra life is negated by the lack of versatility you'll be slammed with.
