Hammerdin merc question

What's the best merc to complement a hammerdin? Just a HolyFreeze one? I plan to use my pally for MF and getting keys so what would fit in the best?

Also what's the gear to get for the merc?

Weapon: Insight or Eternity?
Armor: Fort?
Helm: Andy Visage?

Also, is there any difference between an eth CV or an eth CA? I looked it up and it was a .1 avg dmg. difference.

Yes to all.
I use my Hammerdin to magic find and run keys. My merc is an act 2 nightmare holy freeze merc. He is equipped as you said, insight Ethereal CV. Ethereal Andy’s and Ethereal fort.
He is not indestructible but he is very survivable. The only times I lose him are in areas with Iron Maiden curses or if there are a ton of the little snake dudes down with Nihlathak.
Other than that he is pretty much a tank.

eth CV has a pretty steep strength requirement. but since you're going with andy helm, it shouldn't be a problem.

eth CA has lower str requirements, so you can be more flexible in choosing the helm. vamp gaze, guillaume's etc =)

I've used Defiance merc and find that it works better for me. Since it seems to protect me and merc better than the freeze.

If u have 2 sojs and decent mana mf charms or such, you could try doom + defiance merc...( nithalak snakes can kill your merc no matter how phat he is though :cry:

Pfff... Hdins don't need mercs. You have Med, Redemption, and Cleansing.

Seriously, though... I don't bother with a merc. He dies constantly when I do hell chaos and I don't miss him enough for it to matter.
