Staff Shopping

Is there any good source of info about staff shopping?

Particularly, I'm looking for a +3 ES 4 os staff (of any type), for Memory of course. +1-3 Charged bolt would also be nice on it. Can one shop for such a thing, and if so, where is the optimal place?

I've been trying Drognan Normal. He has a good number of normal staffs usually, but I haven't seen any with energy shield. All his socketed staffs appear to range from 1-3, so it looks like only normal ones with a socket quest will work, that is, taking out War Staffs as an option. Any ideas?

If i remember right you cannot shop for a 4 socket staff. You can get +ES but not 4 sockets none-magic staff. Simply go into some cow games and get into a killing spree and you can get lucky quite fast with such a staff :)

+ES 4 socket staff is a bit of work to get at!

Yeah, that's what I thought about vending 4os. But can't I just buy a normal +3 ES staff, and use a socket quest? Most staffs have max 4os, so its not that limiting this way. I was wondering which vendors have the highest chance of normal staffs, with potential +3 ES and +3 CB. It seems that in Hell all the vendors sell magic stuff only...so do normal vendors have equal probability of such a thing?

You are right, ofcourse you can use the socket quest. A staff with +3 ES which can still be made into a runeword, can only be found and not bought. Anything else with higher ES will just be blue and so not socketable.
