Since you can only get up to exceptional items in classic and I guess you can get those in nm, is there any real benefit to mfing hell meph over nm meph/diablo?

Probability of getting excep items + higher probability of getting desirable affixes. For instance, I believe Hell Diablo is the only monster in the game capable of dropping +2 amulets. Otherwise, they must be gambled.
