View Full Version : lag hack?

i was in a pub bvb game last night when, surprise sursprise, some noob smiter invaded it.
prior to his entry, the game seemed fairly stable with no major lag-spikes.
every single time he attacked me, my ping would spike up over 3k and i'd get stuck in a whirl animation. once the lag ended, i would be dead. when he was in town, off prebuffing fade or attacking someone else, ping would be stable at ~230'ish (my usual ping). he targets me, i lag & die.
fyi: he was using fort and was not a telesmiter. simple whirl-away should have nailed him. but i'd lag and die....
is this some new hack? or some old hack?
anyone have any insights?

Never seen this yet.. and I hope it's just the game/server lagging which in coincidently occurred when you were targeted.

It's been used to PK for quite a while (i.e. since at least 1.08), though I thought it was fixed in 1.10.
May or may not be a new version around.

it became so predictable that i would start to lag out as soon as he targeted me, it happened so every single time.
hence, i though it wasn't a coincidence. a friend in the same game reported the same phenomena.

I'd be certain it's another iteration of the "packet sender," which was once used to steal a torch from me.

Almost sounds like that old hack that would cue some window program to activate, causing a huge cpu usage which would cause the game to chug/lag. Happened to me several times when i first started and infact one of the users actually sat around a game a showed me how to go and get it and how to use it and the mechanics of it all...
*sigh* the things ppl will do to win at a game huh?

i've had it happen to me before too, however on those occasions my opponent was quite obviously using numerous other hacks (immune-to-everything wolves, obvious AA... etc).
this is the first time i've had just this lag issue and no obvious other hacks in use.

OH man I would hate to pvp with a ping of 230, even at 200 on Europe it feels like lower than 100 ping is mandatory. I've never heard of a Lag hack , it would really sucks f it exists now :-/

I haven't had any experience with a lag hack. I'd say that if it is around it is at least restricted to only a few people so far, and there is still a hope that it is a private creation or just around a few people.
Regardless, losing as a result of something like that...accounts for nothing imo. I wouldn't even consider it a loss.
I was just almost killed by a druid using this lag hack and tppk in HARDCORE. I still can't believe I survived it, level 47 druid almost killed my 53 sorc. I entered a portal all of a sudden the game kinda froze 5 seconds later I see that I have 12 hp left.. It was on USeast by the way. The druids name removed U_M .
