After I collect a few more items I'll start my Summoner Druid but whenever I look around Summon guides I'm always seeing the Poison Vine get maxed. Is this really such a great investment? I'd love to know before I start

Poison Vine serves as an awesome attention seeker. Enemies love to chase it when its popping in and out of the ground. It also keeps a steady source of poison on them, keeping the regeneration of monsters HP down to nothing.

In normal/nightmare, it is pretty strong and will help you kill, but in hell, it's a distraction I like my pvm druids to have at least one point in, if not maxed.

Some swear by it, some swear against it. However, they are THE smartest AI summon in the game.

I swear @ it. I curse it 'cause it's worthless, dc's every game, does pointless damage, constantly dies in 1 hit... and the prevent heal.. under what circumstance would your damage be so horrid that you'd actually benefit from the monster not healing. Unless your druid is a Ravener! Uses only hard points in raven... lvl 50 ravens, and you thank god you have that creeper to cancel the monsters healing while your ravens peck away the hell minions as you shockwave.

Yeah, in that case... you'd prolly love ps creeper

Now if SSoG was still here, he'd prolly drop on any moment now stating how it's the most powerful skill in the game err something... and how it drops hell cows by the thousands in less than 2 seconds rofl

I get disconnected alot when using Poison Creeper against single monster like Diablo.

But having said that, it is very intelligent and is a great scout and distraction for monters.

My new summoner doesn't have points in poison creeper.

Carrion Wind gives a level 21 poison creeper. You might want to give it a try before you invest points into it.

Extra Strong/Stone Skin Undead. Those things Regenerate like 1/10 of their health every second and make your damage pathetic.

I also remember something along the lines of the more monsters present, the greater the poison bitrate of the mats the creeper lays, exponentially. In other words the more monsters clumped together, the more damage the little green guy will do.

So while it may be possible to drop herds of cows, I think even SSoG said it is all a matter of preference, as you need to heard all the cows together, get the creeper to lay a mat, and then get the cows to walk over it. All the while you could just be shockwaving/mauling/furying/or having your summons biting away.

That doesn't even matter really...'cause you have 50%+ CB and OW, which both combined > PC. OW does a better job than PC and doesn't dc the game.

Um, CB is reduced by physical resistance? It'll still take you FOREVER to kill it.

Read game mechanics, please :P

I've always said that every minion is one more ally for enemies to focus on and draw attention from yourself. That said, as Jary has pointed out, they don't last very long in Hell. One way to have your cake and eat it too, is to use a Carrion Wind Ring. A high level life leach, poison resist and a FREE level 21 poison creeper. Hey if it's free, you won't feel bad if it dies quick in Hell right?
