As the title says: what do you wear at the begin of a char ?
I always love to get some nice sigon part combined with angelic !
With my druid now (shapeshifter) i'm wearing all sigon parts + 2 angelic halo's and wing ! The damage is ~50 in werewolf form!
So whats your favourite beginnerset's/uniques ! ?

Zealots do well with Full Isenhart's at ~lvl 11, the 100+ damage is nice.
If you want some over-the-top twinking, a few members of the SPF have ridiculously detailed twinking gear, using Jewels of Envy, Great Mauls, and the like.
Personally my favorite is the Arctic Set. Its got some +cold damage & it lets stay at range during a time when my defense isn't usually very good. Its always cool to see everything shatter into icecubes when you kill it :)
on SP I use a 1.07 80%ed 14 pdr 9 mdr crafted khalim's will which basically makes me immune to damage from almost all non act bosses/poison until nm. Add a similarly statted hellforge hammer in offhand for barbs for total invulnerability. Death's hand+belt rapes sigon, as does angelic armour+rings+amu, though with the above khalim's blinkbat's is preferable for the torso. hsarus boots are the lowest level source of decent frw and require a normally acceptable 30 str, these can be upgraded at level 15 (30 frw) and 20 (40 frw). Cathan helm+ring is decent for extra fire damage and +str. On SP I also have a decent selection of items such as a +9 max damage req lvl 11 gc which make melee autoattack viable even on sorcs and necros til some way through nightmare. Full irathras can be a nice set offering 50 @ 10 @ max 20 frw and 25 dex from level 15 onwards. On bnet lod I don't bother with beginner gear I just rush to hell CS (using classic where possible, i.e. all non drood/sin chars) and leech, on bnet classic I use deaths/twitch/ravenclaw with the aid of my ench to self powerlevel or, again, rush to hell CS and leech. The trickier to acquire alternative is gear such as 4 sox (15%ed or even better, for SP, 1.07 larzuked magical X of Y) ancient armour packed with -15% req jewels of envy.

a 6sox crystal sword with 6x 20poison damage/2 seconds in it (two of em have -15% reqs too).
one hit kills well into act 2.

i was always using (like 2 years ago) a 4 sox broad sword or 3 sox, and put it full with perfect emeralds :P. My friends were all beginner and were crazy about it lol :p...
Now my druid is using a angelic sword (gonna change it if im 24 to a bonesnap). The angelics halo's and wings and still sigon on lvl 17. I love the way to level how i'm doing it now too. I'll search a 8 player game, like Akt 2 Now or somethin, And i kill some monsters in akt 1 till im lvl 10 and then i'm doin andy player 1. Than till lvl 13 or so and i solo andy @ player 8 games. It's really quick and verry nice if you find some stuff out of these area's :).
I'm lazy and don't like to re-twink every 3 levels. If you're like me, weapons with dmg/level are your friend.
I usually go with full sigon's and civerb's cudgel for the first few acts of normal. With a shifter I generally opt for partial sigon's and cleglaw's sword + shield. Slightly less damage, but a few frames faster in wereform.

I can't believe that noone's mentioned Death's Set. Only 3 parts and astonishing @40, Cannot be frozen, 20%ll, 30ias and a very decent amount of damage at lower levels. And you don't need a lot of str charms to wear it either. It's by far my most favourite set for leveling a char.
#EDIT: Ooops - didn't notice that Phool mentioned the set in his comment.

i never had a death's set. I only have a sword but not a belt or somethin :S...
Rixot's Keen
Death gloves
Death belt
+24 mana/kill 1.07 ring (lvl 2 req)
Angelic ring/armor/amu
a lot of different damage charms from 1.07
that usually does it until nm where excep gear is available.
Stuff to get:
More 1.07 rings; a +37mana/kill 10fcr ring would be godly
More 1.07 damage charms

Cleglaw's is also a pretty solid set... can get you quite far.
