View Full Version : The possibilities...
I am wondering something here. I play 1.09 single player. I am wondering if it is possible to reach level 99 just soloing CS and cows with a Bowazon? I mean I know its possible obviously but is it going to take an insane amount of time?

yes.....a very long time....
Do you have any tips? I am really considering giving this a shot. Maybe I could make a thread with screen shots as I make my way up?
1.09 is actually the easiest one to reach level 99 in iirc, lots of people had stuff like 5 level 99s, on lod anyway (probably lower alvls in 1.09 classic). On bnet though, iirc there's no /p8 in 1.09 (it was in 1.08 and 1.10 but not 1.09) so it would be a lot harder. I wasn't playing diablo during 1.09 so can't be much help. And yeah you'll probably want to spend 99% of your time in cows.

OR should I just play on BNET? Only problem I see here is that I have no idea what kind of Zon build works in that patch that is on there. Also, I think mana leech was nerfed so manald heal ring wouldn't help much? Maybe I am mistaken here...
it's not difficult to get to the low 90s (it is time consuming however) for any character class in cs runs on the current bnet patch.
Also another thing are there any dupes on SCCL or just SCC in the USEAST? That is the reason why I play single player so I don't have to deal with that crap.

multi shot is very powerful I think. WFs were worth tons then, possibly harder to get than now as well (pindle runs were the main form of mfing then iirc, no temp bans).

loads of dupes on all realms

Well, as long as you do not trade, you don't have to deal with dupes at all. :)
But you could just play Ladder, as there are hardly any dupes there. Personally, I haven't seen any proof there are dupes there, just people claiming there are.
A strafezon with a high damage bow is viable. get enough str for your gear, about 100 vit and the rest in dex.
Or a strafezon with a low damage, fast bow, there are 3 things you should get :
Crushing Blow, Open wounds and knockback.
Consider Goblin boots, Boneflesh armor and Howltusk.
The latter of the two are regularly sold or left in CS runs.
None of those three have any real value.
You will want a bow that does enough damage to leech your spent mana back.
Unfortunately, you won't know if your bow does enough damage until you are at least level 80. By then the monsters are easier to hit because you are close to or above their level. More hits means more mana leeched back.
I find these kind of strafezons benifit from having a solid valk(level 20-ish) and some pierce(the level 30 skill that allows arrows to pass trough one target and hit targets behind it aswel). Monsters will gather around your valk and your strafe shots will hit multiple monsters because they are so neatly packed together.

warlock's got it fer ya pretty much....
btw...noob q here...but i still don't know all the forum lingo...
what does "iirc" mean?
and "gosu" too....lol
iirc = if i remember correctly
gosu = high hand, literally. I think. It basically means godly
When I said dupes on ladder I misread as scl, I'm pretty sure there's no or very little duping on sccl. The only duping methods around these days are private and are being used to make the paysites money. Classic isn't played enough for the sits to bother with it.

In Korean, word gosu (Hangul: 고수, literally a high hand) is used for a person with great skill, usually in martial arts or in baduk (Go). In Gyeongnam province dialect gosu also has a meaning "leader"[2]. The word is partially derived from the Chinese word gaoshou and similar to the Japanese word jouzu. There is an urban legend saying that term gosu originated from Starcraft community as an acronym for "God Of Starcraft Universe" or "Guardian of Starcraft Universe". However, this is actually a backronym, as the term has long been applied to martial arts experts and players of other multiplayer games including first-person shooters like Counter-Strike. It is most likely that Starcraft players were among the first gamers to adopt the Korean word with a new meaning

Even though not so popular there are also several other commonly used Korean words for describing gamers with various skill levels. Jungsu stands for "a moderately good player", hasu for "a mediocre player" or "a person with no skill" and chobo(초보) for "a novice player". "Hasu" and "chobo" are the same skill level, but "chobo"'s literal meaning for beginners and thus implies the speaker has a general respect for the person as a human, or at least not a lack thereof. "hasu" is a more insulting way of describing the player, implying the speaker looks down upon the person they are describing. The English equivalent to chobo would be newbie and hasu would be noob. Hasu would be "lame", noob is the 1337 version of newbie (newbie - newb - noob).
