View Full Version : Found vex, now what?
Can anyone give me approximate values for vex? so far I was offered an anni, and was told it's worth 2 gul. I really don't trade anymore, so I don't have a clue what I can get out of this rune. Can someone give me an idea?

hhmmmm, probably worth quite a bit, being self found and all.my best idea is to figure out what equipment you want, then auction it off to the highest bidder for what you need.

It would really help, if you specified which realm you are on and which character(s) you commonly play.
Personally I would make a HotO (Heart of the Oak) runeword in a flail, if I should find a Vex. This is a great one hand weapon for any caster class.
Charms of course die with a character in HC, thus it may be wiser to trade for items rather than Anni/torch. On any realm though, a Vex should buy you a low anni and a low torch (exept maybe the ever popular Pala or Sorc torches) AFAIK.
And 2Guls = Vex is due to the fact, that 2 Guls can be cubed to a Vex.

Thanks, and sorry for the lack of info. I'm on USEast HC ladder. Most commonly play sorc right now, but I'm looking at making a hammerdin, so I guess the HotO would be a good idea...
Anyway, thanks for the responses, I've been away so long, I really have no clue about any values of anything anymore.

I think it would be. Hope you don't have a problem getting a legit Pul to accompany the Vex. If you do, I'm sure someone on USE can help you out - I have encountered nothing but nice and very very helpful people on these forums, and especially the HC forums seem to attract some altruistic and helpful members.

Hoto is pretty weak IMO, i would have used the vex for something else and just use wizzy on your hammerdin or w/e.

hows hoto weak there are several chars that can use it bassically any caster can m ake use of it i use it on my hdin and till have max res i keep 90 res wizzy in stash for chaos tho and the damage upgrade is ncie as welkl

Wizzy is like the Honda Accord of hammerdin weapons. It's quick and easy and hits some nice breakpoints on it's own.
It takes some work to hit 125% FCR with one while still maintaining sexy resists numbers and all that other stuff, while gaining tons of damage.
For the bang per buck, I don't think it gets better than the Heart Of The Oak as far as caster runewords go.
You don't mention an alternative use of the Vex rune, and the thread starter clearly states that his primary character is a sorceress/future hammerdin.
So, what else might he use it for?

I'd gladly trade it away if I could get someone to give me the entire Hammerdin setup minus the hoto, since I have the wizzy already...or you know, full Tal's set for the sorc or whatever. :grin:

im pretty sure u can get full tals set for vex rune and some more items. so if u do trade it go that route.

Really? I thought the armor would be higher than that. I guess I have no clue anymore....thanks for the advice. And here I was all decided on what I was gonna do.
Another idea is to trade the vex for another hr like jah or ber to make enigma which is much more useful. However I would never do that since your hr is guaranteed legit and jah or ber are probably not. Hell even saving up for a zod to make a botd is a great idea. I would do what funbob suggests and get full tals + goodies. Hoto is kinda weak for sorc anyway.
As for Hoto vs. Wizzy for hammerdin:
Advantages of Wizzy:
1. Cheap
2. Stacked resists, great help vs the cold tppkers. Frees other slots/charms that will be otherwise wasted on stacking res.
3. A socket for a good jewel like 15 all res/9 dex.
4. More fcr, frees up one ring slot for something useful like a wisp which does wonders in hell baaling vs souls, or a ravenfrost for even more protection against tppk cold sorcs.
Advantages of Hoto:
1. A bit more damage, which is kinda pointless really since even 8k hammers destroy anything in pvm.
And lol at the honda accord analogy, wizzy is the best hammerdin weapon. Especially for PvP. Although even in pvm, I would get wizzy any day of the week.

dont take teh price guide 100% it was made 3-4 years ago.
