Okay, the only time I have ever been successfully scammed was out of a bunch of crappy uniques back in the days when you couldn't put anni's in trade screens. Ever since, I have just toyed with scammers and iron golem their stuff when neccessary. But the other day I encountered the worst scammer ever.

I had made an "EdeathZ ft" game and about halfway through some kid comes in and is like, do you want your Edeathz duped? I said sure (wondering what crazy scheme this scammer had conceived). So I go to town and he says "okay, come over here by the dirt" (it was the a1 set up with the bridge, so the dirt was along the river edge). Then he says "okay when I say go, drop the Edeathz, you will be booted from the game, and when you come back, you will have an Edeathz in your inventory and one on the ground."

I was laughing so hard I could barely pay attention, probably the most pathetic attempt at a dupe scheme ever. (He was also trying to give me the exact location of where to drop, as if it wasn't obvious enough he was going to try to steal it). So he crosses the bridge and is on the other side. He says "GO!" I obviously don't drop it, and then he teleports across, questioning why I didn't drop the Edeathz. I said I wasn't ready and the next time I would do it XD. He believes me, and crosses the bridge once more, where I hostile him and spear him. He comes back for his body about 5 times before he leaves, 400k poorer haha.

Tell me, what are some of the most pathetic schemes you ever seen, try to stories where you counter-scammed the guy/owned him.

Picking up the torch from another scammers attempt before he does. Actually made a char that ran fast just to piss people off, --vigor, infinity, aldurs, frw scs, nigma, and pcrown. Had so much fun with that. Love the golem idea though!

I think the most famous scam at least in EU is inventory full scam.

My latest one was I joined game guy sells perfect Faith GMB. I had mine Faith in Matri and I wanted to get GMB faith. Guy showed his faith and I said that I wanted to buy, he said need 8 Ists. I said I dont have that much, but I can offer 5 Ists and my Matri faith. Guy was interested and so the trade dance started. Each time I put faith and runes in trade screen, pressed accept, but it fails, coz guys inventory is full. He runs to stash then comes back, again the same, etc some 3-4 times.
After 4th time I told him that I wont fall for that cheap scam and there is no point to try to trade me magic GMB bow. Neverthless after this he came back and put magic bow in trade screen saying: come on trade fast I dont have time, have to leave, bla, bla, bla ...

I was just laughing, come on, even after telling him that I every one knows this scam he still tryed to scam me.

Noob :hang:

Well here's mine.

I was trying to trade off my CoH and this fellow came in and shown me 2 Enigma DS, saying he's willing to trade them for my CoH (average). Of course this is a good trade, but as soon as he said "wait, i need to make space" it was all clear. I mean why do you need to make space when you are trading 2 armours away? Sure enough, when I put my CoH there, the fellow put 1 Quilted Armour and Ghost Armour and I pressed the accept button first. But of course my inventory is full so I got quite a good laugh in making him high for no reason. He even tried to call me "noob" but ended up saying "moob"

I fell for this once, in my noob days. I was so excited about at last getting a Tal armor, that didn't notice the faint rattle coming at me from the trade screen.

Luckily, the guy was a nice chap, and gave me back my stuff (don't remember what).

I'm still waiting for the day when someone random on B.net is actually nice to me

Almost fell for the Tal-Rattlecage scam once, tired as i was and desperate to complete my tal set i almost clicked 'Accept' but my RL friend told me to double check the armor again, and so i did. This was of course in noobydays.
Nowadays when someone says "argh no space w8" you just say
'Hey don't even bother walking to the stash mate.' - ESC, Leave game.

Yesterday I ran into one funny situation. One guy in chatroom was saying that he is planning to quit D2 and giving his account, I decided to give it a try.

At first, he seemed to be quite nice chap and such, and for a moment I thought he was serious, but then he said "well, you sound like a nice guy so i guess i can give you my account if your dnd rank is not too high."

Bull**** alarm went skyrocketing that moment, but I decided to go on and play around.

"dnd rank? Doesn't ring any bells atm"
"its a rank that tells you how much your account is worth, i think it conculates items and char levels"
"people use it on ebay when theyre selling accounto. so i can be sure you really need my account"

So, after that I was "I guess I have heard about it, but not sure. How to check it?" and he did the classic. I "followed" his instructions, but instead for dnd message I put "That was fairly interesting conversation, but unfortunately you got burned. It also made some great screenshot material."

And yes, I do have screenshots about most of the conversation and such.

Picking up the torch from another scammers attempt before he does. Actually made a char that ran fast just to piss people off, --vigor, infinity, aldurs, frw scs, nigma, and pcrown.

Besides that iron golem, that has to be the best prank idea I have lately heard.
