I got hacked today, but I don't know how. This guy asked me to help him so I entered his game "ofc1-1" and when I alt tabbed to check the trading forums and brought it back up and my char said "hmmmmmmm" but I didnt type anything. Then started to drop all my stuff and couldn't pick it up... so I pulled the plug. He got everything that I was wearing. Then I went on a different account and played on my pally. He was fine and I logged out for a while. I logged back in to find that my pallys stuff was gone as well.
Well, on both chars, only the stuff they were wearing was gone, nothing from the invatory, or stash.
What the HELL y'know?

possibly a trojan
virus scan dawg
My pally got hacked before, the guy only took all the "GG" stuff on him, nothing else.

Mmm I'll do a virus check right away.
Could this be some sort of new maphack? I remember in the old days you could look at someone's gear by rightclicking them, but you couldn't touch it.
Also, I don't use it myself, nor do I bot.
Any other clues?
EDIT: Should I be concerned about my WoW account now?
You downloaded a trojan man. If it were some kind of new hack, they would not steal your stuff.. they'd ratter steal godly stuff from sellers before blizz finds about the hack and patch it.
It'd take some elite russian haxorz to steal ur stuff right there in-game. U might've dl'ed something weird.
did you go to a site he said to and download then run a program he said to?

Yes it is weird, and no I didn't go to any site he said. I'm not stupid :wink3:
I did a full scan with norton and didn't find anything. Must be a new type of hack?

I dont get it. Usually they tell you to go on the separate website and then dl a program. If you run that then all of ur stuff keeps droping.
I cant seem to understand how this happened. I guess i have to watch out for this and always keep my fingers on ALT+F4.
Run a spyware check. I recently found a couple backdoor entry points buried in my registry o.O

My advice is to just run from Wine in Linux instead of in native Windows, or sandbox it in a Virtual Machine, if you think people are trying to hack you. Ahh the benefits of old games and modern machines. ;)

I ran spybot S&D before and after the scan. Notta thing.
Could have run a remote desktop program...harder to do but still possible...and less traceable...usually...
OK, don't take this wrong.
But you're full of crap.
you DID go to their site, you DID download something. You LIED to us here about what you did. You gotta be honest if you want help. Stop useing maphack or any other cheat, stop going to sites or forums that advocate hacks or cheats. Others might believe you when you say you didn't, I don't.
I have been playing along time, and I have never been hacked. So frankly, I don't buy it when ppl cry hacked, and claim they didn't do anything.

Fortunately there is no hack that does this.
I know this virus and it requires you to go to a link to download something.
As bovine had said, I think you lied.
Tell the real story, you where stupid an downloaded some crap you didt know about, or did what the hacker/ scammer toll ya...

yup this has the classic:
"Wanna join my clan/ learn to dupe/ get maphack/ get free gear ... then check out my website."
You go, you click, you drop your stuff. You also probally unknowingly install a keylogger. Then Mr. Friendly D2 player gets the rest of the stuff off all your other chars. FYI more than one person can be logged onto the same account at once.
Stickies are your friend:

Silver lining: I doubt you'll fall for this one ever again.

& am ofc sorry for your loss, hate those cheaters..
Mm, lies.
You have been playing with a maphack or similiar program containing a trojan. You could also have visited a bad website recommended by someone on b.net

ps, norton is terrible TERRIBLE at scans not to mention everything else including price
"AVAST!" is the way to go, google it
and get it
also, if you are really committed, go to the techspot virus malware section and follow their legendary steps
You know what. I think LastZodiac is a pretty decent guy judging from his posts, and hackers are constantly getting better (and lamer) so this isn't outside the realm of possibility. Just because something awful didn't happen to you for the years you played D2 without using mh/bots/ect, doesn't mean it can't happen to someone else.
Sorry for your loss LastZodiac. If you're on west I can spare some gear to help you back on your feet . . .

No hacker that is capable of doing that would be playing diablo two or much games. If anything.. they would atleast play wow. Diablo two or rather battle.net itself changed when battle.net fixed some holes so that hackers cannot with ease go invade another person's computer

WAIT WAIT WAIT!
Last April
this guy, told me in order to join his clan, he had to see if I had enough battle points(which I have no idea what they are)
I needed to type something like /dnd "account name" "password"
I was like, I am not stupid, so me being sneaky, made my own game passworded and everything
After typing it, I receive a message you have # bp
He says log off and make a new account with ***-whateveryouwant
The next time I log on my character is stripped, but thankfully it was horrrrrrible gear
So think, this mans story could be true
/dnd = do not disturb
when someone sends you a msg it replys with whatever you put after your /dnd
ex.
dnd/ password
they get your password when they send a msg to you

To test it yourself, type /dnd xxxxxx and then whisper to yourself. You will see what the guy would be able to see as well.
No idea what is # bp though.

what's fun is to give them the password to an account full of terrible gear.
