Transfer items to Mule question

Well, I'm back for my 3rd time since lauch of D2.. been awhile since last go around.. was wondering what would be a good way to transfer my items to a mule character. I know they did something in the past to sorta prevent that with starting a game that has a password, logging off the main then join the game with your mule. I even attempted it with some junk, and the game closed before i could join. Any suggestions?

In order to have a game stay around after logging out of it, it has to be up for 5 minutes, so that's probably why you weren't able to log back on. The best way, of course, is to have someone stand in your game while you mule. Short of that, you'll want to start a passworded game and wait five minutes (or longer) to make sure the game is permed, and you're free to drop, log off, and log on your mule. When I self-mule, I prefer to log off the character I make the game with and log him back on before dropping to make sure the game is still there, then mule, but you wouldn't want to do that more than once because logging out and back in too many times will cause your account to be temporarily suspended.

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try. I just remember when I came back last time and dropped a few items I wanted to keep, the game was gone when I logged onto my mule. Don't want to run into this scenario again. Also, I no longer know anyone personally who play anymore, so I don't have anyone I can trust to stay in my game for me.

There are a couple places on these forums where you may be able to find someone to help you mule if you're at all interested, maybe if you're ever needing to transfer something valuable -- the Player Matchup forum and there's a sticky in the Community forum for general help including muling. Well that is one of the pluses for being in this forum.
You will met more people that are willing to help you than screw you over.
The best way is to use a friend, games drop often even after perming for 5 minutes.
In addition is you go in and out of games to fast and rapidily you will also get a temp ban and all your stuff that you didn't pick up will be lost.

I run 2 legit copies on DII on 1 comp (Instructions are in the Stickies (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=435822)) and self mule any decent items. It's the safest method I've found but does require 2 copies (2 CD Keys) of DII.
