Question: Anya Quest, and the Resistance Boost

Once you use the Scroll for rescuing Anya, is the resistance from the scoll perminant?

Asking that, once you have completed all three (Normal, Nightmare, Hell), does that mean that the minimum resistance you can have is -70 in hell (because penalties and such)?

Right clicking the scroll in the right difficulty gives a permanent result yes. And I do believe it's 10 res/scroll as you mentioned. Though I don't think the penalty is as high as you mentioned.

Well, I haven't done a single Anya quest as of now because I was told that when you die, you lose the boost from the scroll. With no resistance, it's -100 in Hell.

That's the Anya-bug. That used to be true. If you die you'd lose the Anya acquired resistances within the active game. Upon entering/creating a new game all ressistances restored to original values. But that bug has been fixed iirc.

That's why many people killed in a game do not dare to run and get their corpse back. They remain a lot weaker due to the bug even if they succeed to get it back. Poor guys above level 92!

Also would like to point out that -70 isn't the minimum, it can go lower if you're cursed with Lower Resist or affected by Conviction, afaik. I think -100 is the minimum, though, even if cursed/convicted.

I have a question on this, I dropped the scroll cause i thought it was something left over from that tree in act1. So is there a way to do it again on nightmare?

Malah will give you another scroll. You don't have to rescue Anya again, she will already be in town.

For practical purposes, I view the penalty to be -30 in NM and -80 in Hell since you have help from one scroll for most of NM and two scrolls for most of Hell.

It will of course be 10%-units less near the end of the difficulty (after that incarnation of Anya is rescued).

You're wrong. 10% boost per scroll.

i tried this and she doesnt say anything >< ive tried everythign and cant get another scroll

the anya quest is completed, it doesnt give an option to talk about it. ive made a self made game in nm norm and hell just to make sure

Maybe you should take everything off and see maybe you've already used it >.> Weird situation...

as far as the book goes, you should still be able to read one if you haven't yet, but you'll have to go get it with another character
