Concentrate Barb untwinked - Weapon

Im having problems with damage & speed. Im using a shield/weapon. What base weapon type is the best for a Conc Barb on normal untwinked?
Ive checked Arreat Summit and there are three that stand out: Flail, Longsword and Military Pick.
Any ideas or experiences?


By the way, what mid-lvl weapon runewords go well with a Conc Barb? Any experiences?

have you tried the Black runeword?. i don't think the runes are hard to get.

i prefer using axes, as they have low strength needed and have quite high damage (preferably war axe)

Black rw is great, though little anoying because of the knockback

I should have mentioned i just entered Act III on normal (untiwnked btw), so i cant make a Black just yet

For the time being, i think i will probably buy high ED, Max/Min Dmg Magic War Axe from Hratli :scratch:

I recommend using the savage polearm recipe then going 2 hander, especially if you're playing on p8. Make one for your merc as well.

Diamond (any quality) + 1 Staff (any type and quality) + 1 Kris (any quality) + 1 Belt (any type and quality) = Savage Polearm Class Weapon

Later on insight partizan or honor naga, a bit later passion or crescent moon in something like an ettin axe.

In the old days when you played untwinked with a "Fury" Balrog Blade? :tongue:

"Insight" in an exceptional polearm or stave works wonders for the cost. I suggest running Nightmare countess asap to build up your rune bank a little. Polearms found here should get 4 sockets, too.
Check the Arreat Summit for the best ones to use - I suggest Scythe class 'cause they're a tad faster than the rest.

In Normal, I suggest shopping the biggest 2 handers you can, or using the best one that drops.

Once you hit Act 4 Nightmare you will most likely decide if you're insane enough to go all out and stick with a 2 hander, or you'll use some sort of shield. :smiley:

Damn right, during the dark time of iths and eths, I collected my own stuff from runs and rocked a 100% legit barb built only with stuff I found and crafted. Its all attributed to being young, fear or being booted, and a friend who got hacked. We were young, we blamed mh, and other bad items lol. I went a long time undefeated in barb melee (non ww) duels lol.
