Are the keys worth a lot?

I had been on hiatus since shortly before the release of 1.11. Recently, I was bored and I saw the uber quest and figured it would be fun to play again. Okay, so long story short, I am totally clueless about the economy.

So here is where I am:
Playing Time: ~1 Week
Wealth Status: Dirt Poor
Best Char: 1 lvl87 Cold Sorc. (exclusive)
Best Item: Shako
Next Best Item: 4 sockets PTopaz Armor (I am not kidding, I am dirt poor)

My char dies a lot and I am tired of doing runs after runs. (That's not exactly what I came back for.)

I researched and apparently these "keys" are supposed to worth quite a lot and have a drop rate of ~10-15 games (acceptable).

Now, if these key runs are so easy, why aren't people doing them? And if people are, why are they worth a lot? (Are they worth while doing?) How much are they worth?

I figure Nih is the only one I can do since... well... other acts have far too much cold immune monsters. (Maybe Nih's hall too, is he immuned to anything?)

Please help. I am tired of teleporting in the big-ss Durance for 5 min with a 50/50 chance of being killed by tiny skeletons while returning nothing. I just want to get strong in a short time so I can fight ubers just once. (then I most likely quit. or maybe you can expediate that by offering me to fight ubers with you. I don't want charm, none of that... just want to fight them once.... with a FAITH bowzon which I have yet to build, and cannot build because I can't attain enough wealth to get all the runes.)

That CE guy would be the LAST you would want to do with a cold sorc.

1) He's always surrounded by cold immunes.
2) He CE anything your merc killed.
3) Bugged vipers > sorc.

If anything, I would say the summoner is probably the easiest to do for your char.

As for your sorc dying, ask in the sorc forum, with details on what are you exactly using. Though from the look of what you posted, you are not having much (if any) faster cast rate, and that is a big problem.

P.S. No one would want to fight ubers with your zon (well, maybe they would, but they would not expect you to be able to help), as it doesn't do all that much, compared to the tried and true anti-uber paladins (which is a lot cheaper than a bowie). Also, a bowie doesn't really provide crowd control or other support, which is not good. You might just want to reconsider what you are saving your wealth for, when you are MFing and trading.

okay, assume all that. how much are the keys worth?

also, I know my sorc's problem. she doesn't have good enough items. which can be improved essentially with hours and hours of runs... which I am trying to avoid

that's why if the keys are as valuable as people around the internet (google) says they are, then they might be worth while for me to do. so how much are they worth?

edit: also, how would I trade them? There doesn't seem to be a lot of "Key FT" games. It really doesn't seem like they are valuable

keys are worth 10pgems for t/h and 20pgems for dkeys, or a keyset (t,h,&d) is worth about 40pgems/pul. i wouldnt suggest doing nith b/c the vipers even kick my butt @90 w/ 75 all res, 50%dr, n max blk. i find the countess runs the best b/c u get runes as well, but the summoner is the quickest. as for trading them, its quite easy, you can trade here on the trade forums or in open net. when trading on open net i always just make a game saying what i need w/ what i have ft; so, "dkey 4 ss" "keyset 4 travs" "5keyset 4 hr" "40pgems 4 keyset" ect.

If not, then you should seek help in the sorc forum, since there are many items that are very cheap (like spirit) and can help you do successful runs (be it for keys or meph).

Your question about keys value has been answered already, but I think it's important to say that I've never had a problem trading off keys, and I regularly see games titled along the lines of "ISO keys."

My blizz sorc has significant trouble in the tower because of all the cold immunes in the 5th level, so you may want to consider making a lightning sorc. I've never done a summoner run with her, so I don't know how many cold immunes to expect there. On the other hand, my paladin found Guillame's Face, Baranar's Star and a Herald of Zakarum while doing Countess runs (3 terror, 2 hate in about 30 countess/summoner runs), with low magic find (maybe 30%), so the path to keys can be very profitable, but of course this increase the run time. The countess also drops a lot of runes, which has been mentioned. Even an um has a decent chance of dropping, something like 1:1000. The key drop rate are something like Countess 1:14, Summoner 1:12, Nihlithak 1:13. If anyone has ATMA open, can I get a confirmation on this?

ATMA says: Countess 1:14, Summoner 1:11, Nihlithak 1:12

Also, key drop rate does not improve with higher mf but does improve if playing in a bigger *party* (Not just with other players in the level).

(I guess that's comes behind the gemmed armor as my 3rd best item)IMO the spirits are more valuable than the gemmed armor. Anyways, use a stealth armor instead, unless you are getting more FCR from your rings, especially if you are going to run for keys.

Not really. Once everyone and their mother gets an enigma then the value of keys drop. Your best bet selling/trading the torches unidentified.

A Lightning/Chain lightning sorc can run the countess and summoner with pretty basic(affordable to anyone that cares to pick up a few flawless gems) gear.
