Masteries & diminishing returns

Is there anyone who doesnt max a Mastery?

Warcry barbs (aka Singers) obviously don't have any need for a weapon mastery. Maybe some builds that need lots of skill points might not max one (but they'll definitely have at least 1 point in it).

Frenzy and Berserk can both work with just one point in mastery and pumping up the synergies.

The masteries kind of suck after putting one point in them.

Yes, Frenzy for example is better off maxing Frenzy (duh) and the two synergies and BO and put the remainder of points into a mastery.

A Frenzier who plans on running Ubers will want the Mastery (Attack Rating plus Critical Strike) but one who doesn't may be better off maxing both of the Damage synergies instead.

Wizzies or wizzy+hoto make a good tele switch :wink3: I would generally max weapon mastery on a frenzy barb over zerk.

Hmm... Throw/Melee hybrids might go (remaining points/2) in Throwing and Axe or Spear weapon mastery... I know my planned Jav Barb did, pity I need some of the most insane rares ever before I make him...

Well i wanna build a weapon/shield wielding Conc/Zerk Barb, and i want to save as many skill points as possible. I looked for biggest diminishing returns among the skills i would use, and those are dimishing returns of masteries

For a Zerk/Conc build it is ok to max a Mastery if you want to balance the damage between the two. If not you are probably just better off making a full zerker, which uses a 1 point conc, since Zerk is simply that much stronger.

Ive decided to go with Halciet's Conc Barb guide (20 Conc 20 BO 20 Shout 20 Mastery) but ill put all leftover pts in zerk
