Identify + MF?

Does MF help the mods of the item when you identify it or is the item the way that it is before identifying it?

It is the way it is when it drops. When a item is generated, it's mods are defined.
I have a pair of unidentified rare gauntlets on one of my chars which, due to lag, I identified 2 times before I got a third roll-back and the item was exactly the same both times.
