Are you using Alchol-soft or the like?

i think i had that one before
try reinstalling, or copy the mpq files to your d2 install folder form the origonal cd's again

well i've tried reinstalling a hundred times..but i'll try the mpq files thing..!!

Have you tried googling those 2 lines of error messages? Both turned up with some results concerning Diablo. It depends on your situation if the solution offered are of any help to you.

The exact error messages does not give much clue in Google. I have a feeling that the MPQ's or the executables are corrupted.

Assertions are generally internal sanity checks for programmers to debug things, and usually something is horribly wrong if a check like that fails.
