Anyone up for some old-fashioned questing straight from level one? My first two skillers since the restart have been both Druid summon skillers, I have a nice rare Ammy, and so having never played a druid or any summoner before I've been planning to make a summoner Druid, but having pushed through the game solo with several charachters, I feel like I'm starting to have enough of low-level questing, and getting rushed feels kind of bland too. But I as if remember nearly any task can be fun in multiplayer so I thought I should give it a shot. I won't be wanting to make full clears, and I'll be fully twinked, but I won't be racing either - I'd like use p8 through Normal, and fill quests in order.

I can host, I'm in Europe. The connection should be good, I've hosted before with no complaints at least from Europe. However, I have kinda poor PC, so I think another summoner might be too much.

I have an hour or two. I'll be farming Meph and checking back here every few mins, leave a note if you're interested and I'll host&post.

EDIT: I have Win98 so I can't use Hamachi.

However, I do have an idea. If you can't make it through on your own, I can host a game on my other computer (an old old desktop machine that barely meets the requirements). I've got a character in Act I Hell, and she can just sit in town while you join, and I join with my main character on my other computer via the LAN. Let me know if you want to give this a shot, and I'll forward port 4000 to the other machine, and set up a game. I won't be able to host for about 20 mins from the time of this post, though.

On another note, why can't you host? Unless you're behind a router or firewall that you don't have access to (say, if you're playing from university or work), it's pretty straightforward to set it up so you can host.

Well, my litsorc could use some serious help with NM chaos, but I still haven't figured out how to set up my router to allow me to host games- I used the MP guide Thy has in her sig, and my brain shut down halfway through the process. I'm gonna spend some time working on that now, I guess.On most of these home routers (aka 'access points' or 'internet gateways'), there is built-in software for configuration. This presents a web-based interface where you can set things up. You get to this by specifying the address of your router in your browser's address bar; the address is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. If you're not sure, get the address assigned to your computer (you can check this via Start > Run > (type 'cmd' and then ENTER) > (type 'ipconfig' then ENTER). An alternative is to look at the 'your address is ...' when you try to host a game of D2. Anyways, take this address, and replace the last number with 1. Ie, if your computer's address is 192.168.0.100, then your router's address is 192.168.0.1. This is somewhat simplified, but unless you've set up subnetting or soemthing on your home network, it should hold true (and if you know how to do that, you don't need help setting up the forwarding).

Anyways, once you get into your router's config page, look for something that lets you forward ports. It might be called that, or perhaps 'virtual server' or something similar (depends on the router brand and model). Once you do this, forward port 4000 to your computer's IP address (the one that you got above). If it gives you a choice between forwarding UDP or TCP traffic, you only need to forward UDP.

It also helped test a hypothesis of mine- since there were no hosting probs when I was connected directly to the modem, I guess it's not my ISP after all (either that, or it just didn't manifest this session). Time to look for a firmware update for my router, as I can't normally monopolize the modem (otherwise someone gets upset she can't spend hours on Facebook).

We had some great runs yesterday with dune hosting, and we walked every run. More fun then waiting for the town portal in front of Malah's shop IMO, but that's just me, its up to the host to decide :cool:

Thanks for the game Buraz. Got a few more pieces for a grail- easy to do when you have so many you need. In some ways, I'm actually not looking forward to being where most other people I MP with seem to be, in terms of items. I get excited every time I see something gold on the ground!

If you tried when I actually had the game up, it might be a problem with my hosting again. I'm not sure what the problem is. My forwarding is set up properly, and while it sometimes works, it sometimes doesn't. However, I upgraded my router firmware the other day, so hopefully if my router was being fussy, it's fixed now. only time will tell, though. :/

I'm going to the store with my g/f in a bit, but I should be up for hosting when we get back. Look for the game in about an hour from this post, maybe a bit more.
