A Question Regarding Nova Sorcs and Infinity

Now, I've seen a couple of nova sorcs out there, usually with ES. I've seen videos of them clearing hell Chaos, which, I believe, is pretty impressive with a no-synergy skill. How does the nova damage get so high? And why do they hold Infinity instead of their merc? Is the -55% lightning resistance worth more than the mods of a good orb (i.e. Occulus, Death's Fathom, etc.)? And is it a good idea for my lightning sorc to equip Infinity as well?

The main reason that they equip it themselves for CS runs is because they don't want to have to return to town and revive their merc once it gets owned by IM, but the -light res is very nice too.

the -light res on infinity doesn't work when a merc uses but in the hands of a sorc, any lightning spell will do MASSIVE damage. Add conviction and you'll do double damage on any monster and able to clear a great number of pvp games.

QFT... I have an Eth Scythe Infi! :cool: Sadly it has 323% ed and only -47% lres... But if not in stats, at least in looks I am the Grim Reaper! :grin:

Maybe I'll make a Nova Sorc one day myself - when I have a Griffon's and more than 2 Light Skillers... Shame it's -lres and not -allres. Otherwise I'd make a self-wielding Orb/Firewall Sorc, since it wouldn't need Fcr. Well, other than for Tele but I'd trade more flexibility in gear for a little tele speed any day. I HATE how in a Light build everything has to give fcr to be useful. Maybe I'll start crafting Caster Ammys next...

On topic: you'll need a lot of skillers and a crafted 17-20% fcr ammy to kill at a decent speed with Nova w/ Infy. Luckily with ES there is less need for res, which will be terrible without HotO/Spirit.

Well, not if you str/dex bug to wear it... :cry: Meaning, if your strength/dex comes from Torch/Anni/charms, no one but you can see your equipment. Basically you'll appear naked to them. I just discovered that no one can see my Teh Mostest Coolestest W3apon of Bad-Assitude(tm), because I DEX bug to wear it... By 5 lousy points, no more, no less!
So yeah, oh no - no Cyclone Armor OR c00l l00kz for me... Or whacking Fallens for that matter.
