I use a sorc orb with +1 ES if I want to use Energy Shield.
Dump the rest in Ice bolt, cold master or telekinesis?

Do you get lvl 17 Cold Mastery after +skills? If not, then put them to CM. 5-10 points into telekinesis won't do much good, so if you want more damage and you have CM at lvl 17, put them to Ice Bolt.

with one point in ES you have teleport... If you want to use ES you must put points into telekenesis since you will otherwise drain your manabulb really fast.

but still, if you wanna make use of ES, from orb or from hard points you need to get your telek close to max unless you feel you relly like running out of mana and dying ;)
