Hey guys I have just hit level 81 on my cold sorc and i find running hell solo very hard, I was thinking it was my resistances that are probably too low. Whats the best way of getting them up? and if theres a guide out there somewhere for a sorc soloing hell can anyone get me a link?

Thanks :D

What are your resistance values? For Hell, I consider the following to be absolute minimums: ~60 fire, ~25 cold, ~70 lightning, ~0 poison. Usually if I'm lacking on resists I still take every effort to get to at least 75f/50c/75l/25p.

To boost them, there's only solution for sorcs: equipment. What equipment do you have? What is your skills layout?

And as for your final question, there's a very active Single Player forum here - you should have a look around the stickied threads there. One of the stickied threads is a compilation of different Matriarch (and Patriarch) threads with different builds - there are a lot of sorc threads there, and typically each one has quite a bit of advice about how that character progressed through the game and some of the difficulties that were faced/conquered.

Some general advice for a solo sorc though:

- resistances (above)

- 63+ Faster Cast Rate (FCR) for a reasonably fast teleport. Teleport is the best crowd-control skill you have, so use it.

- a tanking merc (act2, Nightmare, Defensive has a holy-freeze aura that slows most monsters - it's probably the best merc for someone having difficulties). Give him a hard-hitting weapon with lots of life-leech.

- immunities suck - you will need a solid backup attack of a second damage type; or you'll probably want to just teleport past immunities. Relying on a merc can be done, but it's very tedious.
