View Full Version : Need advice on MFing.
Well, i've been MFing for about a week now with my sorc and hes got 300+ MF and i've done more then 50 runs and got NOTHING but 2 pairs of war travs!
It's starting to get on my nerves.. Any suggestions on which areas to MF? Im a blizz sorc and can do 3.8k dmg and my merc does 2.2k dmg his armor is: Levi (for str boost for now), andys, 15 meditation insight I rolled:azn:
My gear is: Shako (ptopaz socketed), oclusus swirling crystal (if thats how you spell it), splendor (Need engima for str boost to use spirit so using splendor for now), 35% chancies, 30% goldwrap, 40% war travs (I found, if I haven't, I would of had these:rolleyes: ), ormus robes I found just yesterday, its not a +3 blizz ormus but its better then what I had before and adds extra 500 blizz dmg and tals ammy
Inv:37% gheeds, one 4% MF sc and 5% mf sc with +20 defense. The sad thing is I can't afford a storch and anni so thats why im MFing to afford those things!!
I can do countess, Meph and Andy pretty good. (Andy and meph are a piece of cake)
So, any good areas to MF? and get descent rich to afford my storch and anni:)
ID APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH!@!@ THANKS.
Well if its any confort to you I've done 70 hell meph and 192 nm Andy and the only things worth anything would be: Magefist, 5x Nagel and a 4@ Sc. All of this with 420+ mf so that shoulden't be the problem.
When you think about it you've probably had some decent drops but you just don't recognise them as such since they don't hold any direct value.
It all comes down to luck and if you lack that, numbers. Keep running and eventually you'll get a few runs that will get on track again :)
(I would consider myself lucky if I found one pair of WT in 50 runs )

Ok, thanks. But should I do NM andy instead of Hell? and what do magefists go for now adays
Do hell Mephisto, he drop nice stuffs.. I've found stuff like Stormlash, Arach 118% + more. I had 326 MF only and I used Frozen Orb + Fireball was nice for hell mephi.
You should run him many times, sooner or later he drop nice stuff.
Cheers

don't forget to check the durability of some of the magic and rares that drop too.
Always mf in hell if you can. 50 runs isnt very much, keep going :)

Wow I think 2 pairs of wartravs are pretty decent drops for only doing 50 runs. I agree with Amaruak, 50 runs is nothing. I have done 1300 hell meph runs in the last couple weeks (single player). Keep it going, I think your doing pretty good.

yes 2 pair of war travs are good finds and war travs have value..i see them being traded for pul and um and even a high rune on us east ladder depending on their mf percent .and dont feel bad i have 333 mf with occy shako tal armor ammy belt mf bonus with gheeds 36 and the only good thing i have ever gotten off hell mephy is a 7-8-17 vampire gaze in a couple months of running. and on the subject, is it just me or does it seem like every single golden ring that drops is always manald heal or dwarf star?

jewelery has a 'rarity' value that affects its chance to spawn. For example, I think nagel's, manalds, and dwarfstar's each have rarity rating of 3, and Stone of Jordan has a rarity rating of 1.
So if those were the only 4 unique rings in the game, part of the selection process for determining a unique ring will be selecting a random number from 1-10... 1-3 = nagel, 4-6=manald, 7-9=dwarfstar, 10= SoJ. So, that means when a unique ring spawns it still only has a 10% chance to be an SoJ.
... and, unfortunately, there are several additional unique rings, so in reality, instead of my 1-in-10 example for an SoJ, it's probably more like 1-in-40.
... or something like that. I know there are rarity numbers, and they work roughly in that manner, but I don't recall the exact details. But that's why you'll always seem to get manalds & dwarfstars. I've found it's cyclical - I hadn't found a Nature's Peace for ages, then I found 2 from Hell Meph within ~100 runs of each other.

I heard that the rarity of nagel + manald is like 15 each, but I could have been wrong.

... or you could be right... 15 is sounding familiar too.
*curses my imperfect memory*
Best advice: patience. It takes a long time and alot of runs to amass a decent collection of good stuff through straight MFing. Sooner or later you'll hit a good streak.

Patience is the key. If u have 300 mf or 600 mf it doesnt matter, patience is the key in MFing. Also you might consider to take the Countess and Summoner in your runs. They drop keys and those keysets will bring up some runes to. Also the Countess will drop some nice runs now and then. Just keep going!

Well, instead of doing andy and mephisto try doing some high lvl dungeons, the pit, durance, chaos, and worldstone areas all have a lvl of 85. Also mf doesnt have that big of an impact on the items you find, and more mf makes less and less of an impact.
