Cube socketing recipe not working?

I'm not SUCH a newcomer, having technically played the game since it came out with a couple of several-year-long absences, but I am having some trouble with the cube recipe to socket normal weapons.

I was playing today when I decided to to socket two elite polearms I had - an ethereal Ogre axe and a superior thresher (14% ed 15% durability). I put the ogre axe into the cube with an amn, a ral, and a perfect amythest and BAM, 3 sockets (:cry:).

Then, hoping for better luck, I put the superior thresher in the cube with a ral, an amn, and a perfect amythest and .... nothing. Could not cube it.

Gave it to a friend.

He couldn't cube it.

Does this not work on superior weapons? It definitely works on superior armors, I thought? I am confused. Somebody help.

This doesn't work on superior items both weapons and armors.

The only thing you can do is give it to larzuk. is that the right person and he will put the max number into the item.

im guessing you were hoping for 4 sockets? just so you don't try again next time ogre axes can only get 3 sockets max. (never mind this if you were looking for a 2 sockets one for whatever reason)

3 socket Eth Ogre Axe would make for a really cool Malice or Crescent Moon weapon for a maerc.
