:brainiac:
she is a light sorcess
so i decided to make her a non-ES sorceress. here is what i am thinking so far
Equipment:
Helm: 2/20/20
Gloves: :( what should i use? i am thinking magefists... or trangs?
Rings: two fcr rings, 1 is +16 strength +13 dex +75 mana w/ fcr :P. other is +14 res... should i use soj's instead?
Armor: COH
Amulet: maras... i really cannot get my hands on a 2/20 fcr w/ res amulet :(.
Weapon: eschuta's or hoto?
Shield: Monarch spirit
Boots: uhh?
Skill tree:
Lightning- max
* which other ones should i max out besides this?
lightning mastery?
Chain lightning?
nova?
charge bolt?
Attributes:
-Strength: minimum
-Dex.: minimum? or no... ? i am assuming that i will be running around using lightning
-Energy: minimum
-vitality: as much as possible
Inventory:
Grand charms- lifer light gc's
Small charms- resistance small charms? or 20 lifer small charms?
Large charms-none
Mercenary:
A2 Mercenary
Weapon: Infinity, Colossus Voulge
Armor: Fortitude of course ^_^.
Helm: this one i am not so sure on, any advice?

griffons of course...

With CoH + Mara's + HotO + Spirit shield, you'll have pretty decent resistances (you should be close to max on everything except fire). If you can get anni/torch, that should make up the difference right there.
The Griffon's will make such a large difference on your damage that it's well worth it - if you still need additional resistances, get them elsewhere (rare-quality boots are a great way to get some resists, although Natalya's and Aldur's set boots are pretty nice for resists too). Charms aren't a bad way to boost resists either.
As for your other questions.
- Magefists (regen) are better unless you need the cold resist from Trangs (and you won't - 50% cold resist is enough, as cold damage isn't that dangerous)
- IMO, HotO >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Eschuta's. Hell, Wizardspike >>>>> Eschuta's, in my opinion (and it would solve all of your resistance problems :p).
- for rings, IMO try to get at least 117 total FCR. If you can sacrafice a ring and still maintain that, then an SoJ is a better option. If not, the rare FCR rings are better.
- Wartrav's aren't a bad choice for boots, in addition to the options listed previously. I assume you're going to be MFing, at least a little.
Skills: Lightning, CL, Mastery, CB - these are the four you should max first (CB works great on bosses, so it's more used than Nova). Nova last.
- minimum strength and no dexterity. With a Spirit shield you'll still need to spend a few points in Strength, but IMO that shield is well worth it. Spirit can't block a turd in a crapstorm though, so definitely no dex.
For the merc's helm, you'll probably need some +strength so he can equip the Colossus Voulge (which, is a crappy choice for an Infinity's base-weapon, by the way). The best solution is probably Andariel's Visage, which has a few nice mods in additional to strength. Although, you'll want to counter the -30% Fire Resistance (socketing a Ruby <fire resist> Jewel of Fervor would be the best choice, but a simple Ral rune will work well enough).
If you plan on using her to run Chaos snactuary you should probably build it around carrying the infinity yourself, make it in a Voulge. The reason is that your merc, especially with a Fort, will die all the time from Iron Maiden, so unless you feel like babysitting a guy from the dessert don't count on him!
The problem you are facing then is that you will loose the FCR from you Spirit and HOTO/Eschutas. On the other hand you will get -(45-55) to enemy lightning res which is so freaking awsome it makes drool :wink3:. Reaching the 78% FCR is done using Griffons or 2/20 + FCR gloves + 2*FCR rings + Arachnids Mesh (which is the #1 belt, hands down!).
I also agree that if you plan on chaosing with your light sorc that you carry your own infinity nothing slows down a chaos run more than having to go back to town to ressurect your retarded sand man.

if you can actually get a low damage weopon for your infinty put that on your merc with up'd eth shaftstop, and eth vampgaze, put this on an act 2 holy freeze merc. socket them with what you need to get your res up there but keep you damage down, iron maiden is the biggest merc killer in there so if damage is low, then IM damage is now deadly. with infinty you will be doing the majority of the killing. if you find the resist monstars being to weak, get a lower resist charged wand to help you out there. theres no completely lit immune creatures except for the stupid bird things adn even then conviction only leaves 1 full immune. that where the lower resist comes into play.
Here is a list of my dream sorc gear:
armor: CoH in 4os Wire Fleece
weapon: Hoto in 40s Flail
Shield; Stormshield w/ jewel of freedom
belt: Nightsmoke or Arachnid's if u feel its worth it
gloves: Magefists
Ammy: Marra's w/ 25%+
Helm: shacko w/ um (or ptopaz if u dont need the resist)
boots: mermans spocket
rings: natures peace and SoJ
stats b4 charms:
st:106
dex: ~190 (max block)
egy: 0-75
vit: rest
merc:
Act 2 Defensive:
armor: CoH in Eth 40s Sacred Armor
helm: Eth Vampire Gaze
weapon: Doom in Eth 5os Cryptic Axe
Breakdown:
I know that a lot of these items are expensive that is why it is my dream list, but if i had the $ this is what I would go w/. With the jewel of freedom and boosts from CoH, shacko, and mara's, getting strength for stormshield is quite easy. I like the stormshield b/c it makes getting max block easy, and with shacko and natures peace u can hit the 50% DR barrier. Resistances will varry on weather or not u choose to use the nightsmoke or arachnids, and what the res% is on your mara's and Hoto (I think arachnids is way better but its also a lot more expensive), your resistances will be b/t 60% - 80% when u hit Hell (not to shabby, and thats b4 your torch, anni and Hell A5 resist quest). As far as FCR goes u will be hurting if trying to get to that 8 fpc barrier but w/ arachnids or a 3%FCR charm and nightsmoke, u will be sitting pretty in the 9 fpc group. This character, as you can tell, is very defense based, but the only thing u really loose out on is MF which can easily be changed w/ chances, wartravalers, and ptopazes in shacko and stormshield (not that big of dif in st if using wartravalers, anni, and torch).
hope this helped
Here is a list of my dream sorc gear:
boots: mermans spocket
hope this helped
come one if he is playing ladder you know that he can't have these boots. Why would you even mention them. I don't know if he is playing ladder or not but I still wouldn't mention them either way.
And if I had my choice of shield for a chaos only sorc I would use a JMOD with 4 5/5 light facets
I think that unless you carry infinity, you're going to have trouble unless you can break lite immunes with facets/griff. Your merc won't be able to carry it due to IM...Food for though...

well i am not playing ladder, but i definitely cannot get my hands on something like that, lol, i don't care to much,
but for boots, i am leaning towards some rare boots i found, fine stats and all that.
here's what i am thinking for my sorceress build( ES)
helm: Griffon
armor: Vipermagi( + 49 res, w/ um)
belt: nightsmoke(this is definitely the belt i will use)
weapon: hoto/eschuta's
shield: i am thinking sanctuary... i don't want to put many too many points into strength. (using low strength requirement sanctuary)
rings: 2 fcr rings, i have one godly one(LEGIT I FOUND IT ^_^) and one for pure resistances)
amulet: Maras/ crafted sorceress amulet( fcr: 10-20%)
gloves:trangs or magefists. frostburns?
boots: still iffy on this...
i know the basics on this build so far, what my real question is; what is the maximum breaking point for a sorceress?
i can get with 115% fcr or 135%, what is the fcr breaking point again?

The max. breakpoint for a sorc's fcr is 194 for lightning/chain lightning/inferno and 200 for everything else. With your current setup, you're past the second highest bp (117/105), but are still some way from getting near that highest breakpoint. You should do fine being past the second-highest, though.
25 (griffons) + 30 (vipers) + 40(Eschuta/HOtO) + 20 (2 fcr rings) + 10/20 (crafted sorc amu) + 20 (magefist/trangs): 145/155 fcr. If you use mara's instead of the crafted amu, you'll have 135 fcr, but you'll need the crafted amu to get the last bp. I would only use frostburns if you have severe mana problems.
To get that 200/194 fcr breakpoint you'd have to reconsider some of your gear: arachnids (20) and spirit (25-35) will get you there. Since you say you'll be definately using nightsmoke, I don't think you can get past the last bp without switching it out for an arachnids :undecided: .
Hope that helps.
