First of all, I've used the search function and read some of the threads I found, but I thought I'd make a thread and ask a few simple questions from you, more experienced crafters. Hope this is ok with you! :)

From what I've read on these forums and arreat summit (prefixes, suffixes, formulae), you'll need a lvl 93 character to be 100% sure to get the best possible outcome of the craft (+2 character skills for example), considering the craft material (amulet) is of a high enough level.

Is the level 93 here true?

What about getting the amulet?
I read that gambling amulets with a level 95+ character would 'almost' guarantee a high ilvl amulet. Is this correct? Is the amulet guaranteed to have a high ilvl if a lvl >95 has gambled it? If not, how can you recognize the 'safe' ilvl of the amulet?
Is it possible to re-use crafted amulets for new crafts (are crafted items considered magical)? If so, is the amulets ilvl still as high as it was before the first craft?

Hope you understand the keypoints what I'm after!
Sorry for a confusing, maybe a bit noobish post. Thanks for you replies in advance!

Gambling:

ilvl of item gambled = gambler's clvl (-5, +4)

Crafting:

ilvl_crafted = (0.5 * clvl) + (0.5 * ilvl_magic)

All values are rounded down, each step of the calculation.

Assuming you have a level 93 character, and you gamble an amulet with the lowest ilvl possible, 88 (93-5).

ilvl_crafted = (0.5 * 93) + (0.5 * 88).
ilvl_crafted = 46 + 44
ilvl_crafted = 90 (minimum for scoring a +2 Class Skills amulet)

Character level (clvl) of 93 is your safe point (not necessarily "100% sure to get the best possible outcome of the craft"), only if you wish to score a +2 Class Skills amulet, which will have a minimum required level of 89. I personally like +1 Class Skills or +2 Tab Skills better because you can get a much lower required level with those.

Therefore, 93 is sufficient, you don't need 95 (I don't think 93 and 95 makes a difference anyways), dunno what those people are thinking.

No. You place the crafting supplies, e.g., caster amu - a magic amulet (blue), ral rune, jewel and Pamethyst inside the horadric cube, click "transmute" and a crafted caster amu (orange) will appear in their place. The crafted amu either will be Charsi food (most of the time) or something that you can use/sell.

93+ is optimal for crafting amulets gambled with that character, but a lvl 95 is required to be _certain_ that every amulet is ilvl90+ (which is important if you're looking for +2skills on the occational rare you'll gamble).

What helvete means to say is that at L95 you will have a better chance of getting really good amulets just by gambling for them which is something like a bonus roll on the amulet.

Hmm, when reading my posting again, I'm not sure if my explanation wil decrease or increase the confusion :azn:

^Yeah, you're just saying that at level 95, you have a good chance to gamble a good amulet while you're in the process of crafting. Makes sense to me.

Thanks guys, I was just about to do a search for this info, when I saw that this thread was at the top of the page.
