I just found an eth Bonesnap and was wondering if an upped (or doubly-upped) version of this would be considered a good weapon for Blade Fury. I know that the high damage + CB is exactly what is needed for Blade Fury. I just don't know how it stacks up against other big-damage, two-handed weapons and/or one-handed options. (HR runewords can be left out of any comparisons as I don't expect to ever find the runes, and I refuse to trade for/buy duped runes.)
First, you need to know that 2 handed weapons get a 3/8 penalty on their damage, instead of the 3/4 penalty on normal weapons. Now, this doesn't rule out 2 handers perse, but it something to think about when you sacrifice your shield.
Having said that, bonesnap is a very nice weapon for its CB, res (since 2 handed you can't use a shield), and damage. I don't know if you want to double up it though, the second upgrade is quite costly for people who stay away from trading HRs and the strength reqs go trough the roof. The first upgrade should be doable yes.
A lot of weapons are good for Blade Fury, varying from Gimmershreds to Fleshripper. Remember that with Guillaume's and Goblin Toes you can get a lot of CB from non-weapon gear, so don't dismiss a weapon immediately if doesn't have CB.

Yeah, that doubly-upped option was just a fleeting thought that I probably shouldn't have included.
Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I wanted to know.

i think a bonesnap isn't too shabby for levelling.. if you up it the str requirement gets a bit too taxing tho..
for 2-handers, i like eth reapers or eth minotaur for their juicy mods.. the 3/8 penalty do not effect them=)
as for one-handers, i used stormlash and it was good. until i used an eth baranar's star.. no static or cb, but the elemental dmg isn't too bad. the big plus is the 200%AR bonus on that weapon=)
The most but-kicking mod a fury weapon can have is chance to cast static field and the Stormlash has it, but hey, it's not like everyone finds one - they are VERY rare, not to say their eth variants. The only other (?) place to find the ctc static field is on the rune word Crescent Moon it costs an Um rune but they are acctually possible to find, for example from the Hell Forge, even in Nightmare! Um runes are worth a bit, but if you do find it and want to make a really sweet weapon for your furysin, do it! Put it in an eth one handed sword/axe and you will get a whole new perspective on Crowd Control for a furysin! :afro:
I guess you have read the guide about the furysin, and therefore knows what the static field procing would do but anyways: It will work pretty much like a Crushing blow mod, only it affects a whole area (11.3 Yards). The ctc lvl 17 Chain lightning is gravy, bur it all gets really sweet when you add the -35% lightning dmg (thats a huge dmg boost) to all these lightning-based procings.
Good luck and have a lot of fun with your fury sin - they are really fun!
Borje, don't forget schaefer's hammer, it has ctc static field too. Anyway I agree with what you said: #1 stormlash, #2 crescent moon. More realistically crescent moon as it is very cheap to make and effective nevertheless while stormlash is VERY rare indeed. I've found plenty unique scourges so far but they all turned out to be horizon's tornado.
Of course the ITD on crescent moon is very nice too.
A Baranar's with socketed with a nef is probably my fav Blade Fury weapon.
VoX dei: yes, you are absolutly right, that's why I made the little "(?)", thx for correcting me! =)
Stephan, indeed, the Stormlash should idealy be socketed with a Jah for the ITD and well, again it's a pretty expensive weapon. I've never had the posiblilty to try one out, but they say it's epic
@ Stephan, baranar star (elemental dmg + huge ar boost) that's pretty interesting weapon choice for a furysin. I believe i have an ethereal one stashed somewhere. Got to try that one sometime.
@ Borje, np mate. I wouldn't use schaefer's just for the ctc static field on a furysin anyways. It lacks important offensive mods compared to the aforementioned weapons and can't be ethereal.
