i'm just wondering at which rune does it become where having multiple of the runes are more valuable than the next highest rune. for example, if i have 3 Sol, should i keep them or turn them into Shael?

Personally, I would cube all the way up to Um's (i.e cube Pul's to Um's) and cube Gul's to Vex's, but leave Um's, Ist's, and Mal's alone.

Once I have all the lower runes (under Thul) I don't pick them up anymore until I run out. Then I cube from Thul up but make sure that I have at least 2 of each rune left after cubing, for runewords or other cube recipies (upping, crafting...etc)

I usually cube up to the ones there is a use for. For example, all the lower ones to Rals, then I trade those away in a bulk. And I also cube to Amns and Hels for Spiritpacks.

I play on bnet, and I hold quantities of Tal, Ort, Ral, Thul, and Sol for runewords/crafting. I've found it's not worth the trouble to pick up lower runes, I quickly run out of space to hold higher runes.

If you want to continue cubing through Thul, you'll need to find the appropriate gems as well. I'd stop at either Hel, Ko, or Lem, as these runes are sought after for several reasons (currency/upping/runewords). You should be able to trade 2:1 once you reach Ko (i.e. 2x Ko for a Lem, 2x Lem for a Pul, and so on) at this level w/o too much trouble.

If you stop at Hel, try to pick up Tal Thul Ort Amn and trade it as a spirit set.

If you're single player, You'll probably want to hold Shael's to use and Lum's, they're useful in lower runewords.
