a rune? Io for +10 vit? Lum for +10 energy? Mal to prevent monster healing (don't even know if this applies if you use spells)? Ist for 30 mf? Vex for 7 mana leech? or a jewel of some sort? i have no idea.

Depends on what you need, and what you can afford. If you need resists, find an all resist jewel (hopefully with decent 2nd mod). If you want damage, find a 5/5 facet to toss in it. You get the picture? It depends on the rest of your gear and what you have available to you.

*Eidt - Personally, I never socketed my occy. I just used it as a stepping stone to better weapon choices (currently using Eschuta's.) Have to remember you could always upgrade to another weapon, and then that socket quest is gone.

An occy is a perfectly fine end game weapon though, even though the tele can be a bit annoying. I defenately wouldnt use the Vex or the other stat runes you mentioned as it seems like a waste of both the socket and rune to me.

Personally I'd either go with a Ist or facet. And it depends on what your sorceress is for. Are you planning on using to MF for your other characters? Right now I have a fishy for MF and I'm working on my sorceress, and I'll prolly put an Ist in mine.

i'm not really "using" my sorc for anything other than just playing the game, but since i'm using the meteorb guide, i don't think i'll need the resist jewel. i guess Ist is the best choice, then?

Or the facet. The - res mod on the facet shouldn't matter too much, because of your fire/cold mastery, but the higher damage the better. If your just playing the game through and have a choice, you could put an Ist in this and try to find a better weapon later like the Eshuta's mentioned above, or just throw the facet in there and use it till endgame. The choice is yours to make.

for my self I use a rare 10mf jewel with 7 strength and some res because it fits my needs pretty well (I need the strenght for tal armor+mf+res) but i bet there are many right choices.
