Cow Level question

I have used up the cow level in my previous char by mistakenly killing the cow king. Now I want to make cow levels again, so here is my plan:

1. Make a new char, and finish off the three game difficulties.
2. With the new char, make a cows game.
3. This new char (who made the cows game) exits the game while a friend stays in the game.
4. My old char ( which cannot make cows game) enters the game and finishes off the cows including the King.

If I do this, will my new char still be able to make cows games?

Yep. Killing the Cow King only affects the people partied with the person who killed the king.

Wrong. If someone kills the king (for the first time with that char) then EVERYONE IN THE COW LEVEL will get the quest. Partied or not. If you're elsewhere, then you can even be partied, but you won't get the quest, so you'll still be able to open.

If the king is killed by someone who has already killed him, nothing happens at all.

BTW, if your portal creator does something else in the game for 5 minutes (visiting a few bosses or whatever), you can change characters without the help of somebody else.

I'd do it like this:

1 - Use some patriarch to make the game, get the leg, and open the portal. Then go kill off everything in the throne of destruction, but leave Baal alone (or maybe sliver his life). This should take 5 minutes or more done solo. If it takes shorter time, go kill Andariel, since she's quest bugged. This character should either NOT have the Halls of Pain WP or NOT have killed Nihlathak, in order to have pindleskin available.

2 - Exit game, join with a champion (with reasonable MF), and go kill baal and clear the cow level. This will give first kill drops from baal, as well as the pindle and cow level portals will be open in that game. You might even do Nihlathak with that character, and if you're up to it, Shenk and Eldritch.

3 - (optional) If you have an act 3 stuck mephsorc, this is the time to bring her in, and do Tunnels and Meph. Possibly summoner too. And Andariel, if you haven't already.

Doing games like this, you need only 2 or three characters, and you get a LOT of variety without the games being created too fast. The only common areas left are the lvl 85 areas including Diablo, and the Countess.

So this is what my strategy is going to be:

I'll save this new char's cow quests for creating the cow portal. Once the portal is created, this new char will leave the game, and the old char will join the game (whose cow quest has been done already). This allows the new char to keep creating cow games, and the older char to keep farming the cows even when he has done the cow quest.

Right?

About the timing: Both the old and new char are summoner necros, so they will spend 5 mins in the game for sure - summoning army takes about 1 min, and killing Baal takes another 4 :smiley:

I recommend an enchantress for the cow opener. Or a javazon with a barb to kill and fond item the king.
