I'm looking for an ammy/circlet with the following mods:
Guardian's or Chromatic
Life Everlasting

Guardian's ilvl is 60
Chromatic's ilvl is 55
Life Everlasting ilvl is 45

So my question is how do I know if I'm shopping/gambling ammy's/circ's that will give me affix lvl 55 or affix lvl 60??? I know the ilvl is -5/+4 clvl, which with my 85 sorc gives an ilvl of 80-89. I just don't know how that relates to the affix lvl. And they I recall hearing something about a magic lvl with circs, rings, & ammy's. And the ilvl only matters if its higher than the qlvl??? I'm so confused. Help!

When gambling, items will have an item level of charlevel-5 to charlevel+4, randomly. When buying items, the ilvl will be charlvl+5, ybut you cannot buy amulets or circletsanyway.

For amulets, the affix level is equal to the item level, so all you have to do is gambling for them with a L65 or higher character, to ensure that you always have a chance to get any of the desired affixes. However, the higher the charlvl is, the more other affixes are possible, that would reduce the chances to get the amulet you are looking for.

For circlets, the affix level is always equal to the item level+3 (if the ilvl is below 24, it's always 27 BTW), so you will have the best chances at L62+.

In summary, gamble with a character of L65 or a bit higher, but not too far beyond that.

Wow thx so much krischan...it sounds so simple when you explain it lol.

This leads me to one more question:
If I gamble an ammy with a lvl 95 char, then use it in crafting recipes am I correct in thinking its at least ilvl 90 & possibly ilvl 99??? I didn't think ilvl 99 ammy's dropped from anything in the game so this might be where I can get the highest ilvl ammys for crafting. Am I way off on this??? I understand of course that there is no real way to tell if its ilvl 90 or ilvl99.

You only have to be L93 to get a crafted L90 amulet from a gambled one. At that level, the minimum ilvl of it will be 88 when gambling and crafting changes that to at least 88/2+93/2=90. Both gambling and crafting have to be performed by that character, of course.

Using gambled amulets for crafting with a L93 character is the most effective way to do that. Amulets don't drop really often and if your character is below L93, you only those from Diablo (L94), Nihlathak (L95) and Baal (L99) are of interest - except at L92 where those from bosses in L85 areas(which have a level of 3 bwyond the area level, i.e. 88) can be used as well. However, it can be hard to distinguish amulets dropped from bosses there from those dropped by regular monsters.
