Can someone direct me to a list of uniques with ilvl listed? I'm trying to figure out which unique items Hell Meph CANNOT drop.

Or if someone knows off-hand, looking for ilvl for things like arach, griffon, mara's, coa, etc.

I have an ilvl related question (I think I finally understand how this works...):

Items that appear at vendors have an ilvl = clvl + 5, and the highest alvl that can appear on an item is equal to the ilvl of that particular item, correct? So if I wanted to shop for +3 Javelin/Spear Skills on gloves (alvl = 60), would it be most efficient to use a level 55 character (so that I don't have to deal with all of the other affixes with alvl > 60)?

1st Question: No that's not correct. The alvl is based on ilvl and qlvl of the item. The formula to determine affix lvl is:

If (ilvl>99) then {x=99}
if (qlvl>ilvl) then {x=qlvl}
if (magic_lvl>0) then {alvl=x+magic_lvl}
else
{
if (x<(99-qlvl/2))
then {alvl=x-qlvl/2}
else {alvl=2*x-99}
}
If (alvl>99) then {alvl=99}

If you buy, for example, gauntlets (qlvl=27) from anya, you need an ilvl= 73 to get alvl=60 and therefor get the lancer affix. So you need a lvl 68 character to buy gauntlets with + 3 java skills...

Greater quality gloves need lower ilvl to get the same affixes and, as you can check on the formula, if the qlvl is greater than ilvl, ilvl has no influence in the determination of the alvl...

I use this affix calculator (http://diablo2.ingame.de/spiel/expansion/itemdb/affix_index.php?lang=en&version=lod&patch=111)... (I think it's ok to post the link here...) It's simple and easy to use...

2nd Question: That's correct. Monster lvl = Area lvl (in nightmare and hell). Champions have +1, Minions +2 and Uniques +3 to their lvl.

Some bosses do not have their clvl modified by area_lvl (notably, act bosses and nihlathak), but some superuniques do (notably pindleskin).

The +3 bonus does not seem to be applied evenly in the game. It applies to Nihlathak, but not all superuniques.

1) the enemy must be able to drop from the item's TC
2) the enemy must have mlvl > unique/set qlvl.

Here (http://www.diabloii.net/items/110monster.shtml) is a list of selected monsters and their max TC.

For Meph to drop a unique/set item, it must be in TC 78 or lower and have qlvl 87 or lower.
