Hi!

I know that curses that reduces monsters dmg works as negative off-hand ED%. That means if decrepify is used on someone wearing for example Fortitude the fort ED% bonus is reduced from +300% to +250%, right? That makes it far less effective than say a 50% Energy shield. My question is, when used in PVM, will it make difference, do monsters have any off-hand ED or will it have the effect of reducing the total dmg dealt by 50%?

The thing is I am thinking about making a Bone Necromancer using Decrep and a lot of PDR/MDR to get a close to invincible fella, sorta like the max ES sorc. The nice thing is that you only need one point in decrep for full effect. But will it be effective? Also, what kind of dmg is reduced by decrepify? Only physical or all kinds, like spells too?

The in depth questions about the build will be asked in the Necro Forum, here I'd mainly like some general answers of the mecanics of the -DMG% curse...

thx in adv.!

In PvP, the main effect of decrep would be slowing the enemy and reducing their physical resistance, as characters usually have several hundreds of off-weapon %ed. Regarding monsters, they don't have any off-weapon %ed AFAIK, except they benefit from a might or fana boss.

Decrep affects physical damage indirectly, by applying an off-weapon damage penalty of 50%. That means, only attacks which get boosted by off-weapon %ed are affected. That excludes CB and OW as well as spells which deal physical damage.

BTW, it's similar with conviction. Monsters don't have a % bonus to defense, so conviction works against them quite well.
