Why does Holland always seem to get the group of death?

IIRC that makes for 2 of the last 3 world cups (missed qualifying for the other, grrrr) and now the last 2 Euro tourneys in which the Dutch have found themselves in the "group of death". As yet they have made it out f the first round each time but F me, France and Italy???? Lack of seeding with a random draw is almost as dumb as the BCS..... almost.

Sigh

how would you seed teams that don't play a season?

Yeah, even if you gave out #1 and #2 seeds, that would help things. The World Cup gives out #1 seeds, but they're pretty horribly skewed. Give seeds (based on international play and world rankings) to all teams that should be #1s and #2s. Then throw everyone else into a goddamn raffle.

I don't care, but anything that doesn't dump the Dutch, Italy, and France in the same group, or the Dutch, Argentina, and Serbia Montenegro in one group.

Need i go on? I don't even know the 4th member of either, but imagine how bloody bummed whoever the farg it is must be/might have been was/is?

I mean christ O mighty that's the last two world champs with a consistent perfomer each and every tourney (excluding the Irish, F the Irish). Van Basten brushed off the second round loss in the last Cup saying he was building for this. wonder how he feels now??

Best of luck, Holland! I really hope you'll progress, and France won't.

You got it nasty for sure. Sweden got lucky - again.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Dutch team. They're a traditionally strong national team. Sneijder, Robben, and Van Nistelroy are a solid lineup too.

I'm pleased with Spain's group. Greece has a strong team, and is the reigning world champion, but the Spanish team has been playing well.

Why do we always have to be in the group with Germany? Since early 990-s I think... that's a WAY too long in my humble opinion!

On the topic, I like the Dutch team. They're rough diamond :)

The 4th member is Romania, Dutch. Groups B and C both look nasty. A and D look nice and soft.

Spain will have an easy time...until something weird happens on the semifinals, leading to an untimely demise of La Furia. Man, I like Spain, but you can't really be more unlucky than they are.

Dutch's group is pretty ugly. I'll be cheering you guys on, since France is lame(Nothing to do with the "screwing Brazil on two World Cups" thing, no. Not at all).

Jeeze group C is going to be tough for my Italian brethren. Holland won't be trouble, it's the damn French I'm worried about.
