d2 crash @ act2 change

d2 crashes when i try to go from act1 to act2 for the first time. my sound card has an issue were i need to reformat but i dont have an OS disk atm so.... i was wondering if there is any way to fix this.

i recently installed the newest directx and video drivers, my sound card isnt showing up at all on my comp. dxdiag shows my everything is fine with my video but it doesnt detect directsound, or directmusic and just recently i got a directshow error too.

can i fix this my reinstalling my directx? i didnt have this problem until i updated to 1.11 and got the newest drivers. im running single player on d2 classic no exp. thank you in advance.

What error message do you get?

You could always try to recopy the .mpq files from your Diablo CD to the Diablo 2 folder and overwrite the old ones; that solved a lot of crashes for people in the past.

not quite sure im not at my house right now i dont have internet there. i think it was an unhandled exception, i havent tried running in windowed yet or the -ns / nosound fixes. im just getting really aggrivated, i want to be able to play past act1... andariel is ugly. unlike duriel mmmm

i tried the pasting the mpq files already, it didnt work. when i first bought diablo i installed it full install and played to act3 fine. but i wanted to patch to 1.11 so i patched and thats when the problem started with the act changes.

try deleting d2video.mpq

then when you change acts itll ask for the cinematics cd, click cancel

thanks a lot, ill try it when i get home. i bought the game about 2 weeks ago and ive only gotten three hours out of it :(, i just want to play it like i used to. thanks for the suggestions im sure something will work.
