As the title says my map has been reset. I don't seem to be able to find the thing that caused it. Its very strange because only the map of my necromancer has been reset and not the maps from both my sorc and necromancer. The map has completely changed from what is used to be but I still got all the warp points.
Anyone else had this to and might know what caused this?

You probably changed difficulties.

All your characters ARE on single player, right?

Yes they are all in single player. But it was with my lvl 83 necromancer. I clicked my diablo II icon, waited, click on my necromancer clicked on hell (which he is in for some time now all the way up to act 5) and I went for some meph and andy runs and suddenly my map was different and gone.

each time you do anything like that it generates a different map
to prevent that you can use the -seed command to force a specific mapI believe the -seed command causes some interesting things to occur with drops and is considered pretty Cheesy in the SP community. To each his own, I guess.

Use of the seed command is more than cheesy. It shouldn't be used and certainly not in the way the poster described. That would change the way drops are done and cause the character and items found by the character to be illegitimate in the eyes of the SPF.

Perhaps the OP would like to PM a Mod of the SPF or at least read the Stickies for clarification rather than risk a complete restart due to inaccurate advice.

-seed affects the random number generator in the game. If abused, it can lead to the creation of games wherein powerful items can drop with some frequency. This usage is not considered acceptable.
However, it also allows for the recovery of maps if a player accidentally changes difficulties or joins a multiplayer game. The consensus of the SPF is that the -seed command can be used to recover a map. However, once the map is recovered, the player should exit the game, clear "-seed" from the command line, and return to playing as this prevents abuse. Under no circumstances should map seeds be shared with other forum members. You should be up front about your use of this command when seeking to trade as well.

I still just don't get it. I'm not using any cheats or mods and I have never used them so I don't get it that all the maps are completely reset.
And in another odd things is that it only happend to my necromancer.
Well I geuss I just have to discover every map over again. Really sucks thou meph runs were so easy before only had to walk 3 halls now it takes alot longer :sad2:.

Well thnx anyways guys for replying, I geus I'll just have to live with the fact that I need to do the whole hell again just to get the maps complete again.

If you are running Memphisto, all I do is move about a screen from the WP and then if I don't find the way down, make a new game in a different difficulty then one in the difficulty I want to be in and do the same.

If I'm unlucky can take an hour to find a new map, last night I got a decent one on the first attempt.

Did you take your Necro into an MP game. That will reset the map.

No I don't play MP because my modem is anoying me and doesn't let me go in Mp and I'm able to fix it. So I play in single only and then there are no new maps just the one you got. And in this case it sucks because I really got a bad map now on hell.

Only way to change maps is:

MP
Change difficulty
Delete .map from your save directory.

All you can do is re-roll the map.
