View Full Version : MF: Full games, and quest drops??
So, I have a level 88 hammerdin. Call him bob.
Bob has about 340% MF.
My mode of MFing is usually andy and pit runs, occasionally meph.
I have heard that monsters will have more drops with more players in the game, and since I do alot of pit runs, that should be helpful. I need to know if playing in full games helps. Here's what I do:
- make hell cow game
- make cows, but don't party with the people who come
- do my runs, make them a new game when they say they need it.
Its a win-win-win, they get cows (and can kill king) I can still make cows because i wasnt partied, and I get to mf in full games.
But, does MFing in full games work like that? Will I get more drops/better drops from pit or andy from doing this (unpartied, remember, and in a different area)
I can kill the monsters just fine, a full game isn't slowing me down as much as i think it should help.
Also, reading through the forums I read about 'quest drops', where killing a boss for the first time gives better drops.
How much better are the drops?
If im in a game made by someone who has never killed a boss, and i kill said boss, will i get better drops (being unpartied)?

being partied and unpartied dont influence drops. the more people in a game, the more items are being dropped IIRC. and from what i've seen in ATMA its like 3-5X better or something like that
Once again, if you have killed the boss, you can't quest drops - save for andy.
The more players the more drops you get. And when you party with people and they are close enough to you, the drops will get better too as far as I know. Often, you will get slowed and you should ask your self, is it worth it?
Note that you can quest bug andy, so you can always have quest drops from him.
P.S. Just to make sure everyone got it this time - your like the 5th to ask it this week.

Each additional nearby, partied person in a game reduces the no-drop chance of most targets, which in turn increases the chance to get drops. Each player who is not nearby counts as half, so you need with seven people in a game, solo kills would count the same as 4 party members nearby each other.
Some targets already have a low chance of no-drops- for example edritch and shenk have the same drops for 1 player games as 8. The random uniques in the pits are the same, but their minions are not.
For first boss-kills, they have to be killed by someone who has not completed the quest yet.

Unpartied players also count as half, no matter where they are. Keep in mind that the game rounds the number of players down, meaning that there is no difference in drops between e.g., 3 or 4 unpartied players.

This has nothing to do with nodrop. Champions, uniques and some superuniques always drop the exact same number of items.
Keep in mind that the benefit of larger games is relatively small. With 2 "effective" players, you get ~10% more items on average. With 4, which is the maximum effective players without partying, you'll get ~30% more items. Generally speaking, you'll get more items over time in solo or small games.
EDIT: Of course, that last sentence might be less true for BNet, since a larger share of your time is spent making a game and getting to your target.
Thank you!
What about the barb skill find item? would number of people in the game change drops from that?

How do you get them from andy?
Also, i know that if you join a game made by someone who hasn't done countess, and you kill her, the chest pops.
the first time you kill andy, talk to all the people in the town of act 1 and go to act 2 in the same game. Now you should have quest drops all the time.
I think that going to act 2 is the most important thing, though if you talk to everyone and go to act 2, you are sure that you have done what you have to do. You only have to do it once anyway, better do it right, you don't get a second chance.
The number of people doesn't have much - or even any - effect on the find item skill. Your chance to find something is depending on the slvl. You may have a small chance to get an additional item from random bosses - some times they dorp two items and this change may improve. Note that this only goes for random bosses, so I don't think it is worth it.
Normal monsters can't drop 2 items, so it's only the slvl that counts.
Don't quote me on this though.
Talking to warriw in the same game as killing andy for the first time will enable the bug, thus 90% of people have it, but just don't know about it.
