Ive tried to make one before and i lacked the charms to make it worthwhile. Now i've got some pretty solid max dmg/life charms so im gonna try again to make it happen. My question is can bear be viable with grief phase at 7 frame attack? and if it is, is grief damage multiplied by fortitude armor(never had a grief before). If grief isnt viable i was thinking of using guillelms face for more deadly strike with the weak damage gris caddy. Anyways im just wondering if theres any semi successful kodiaks out there pvp wise

The +damage is added after the %ED from items. So the 20-25, or whatever base damage a Phase blade has, is multiplied by the Fort and Werebear skill and what not, then the +damage is added. I've made both a Mauler and FC druid with a 7fpa grief pb and the FC with high physical damage does by far alot better. My FC druid using 1 point maul with an 8frame grief pb can beat my friends mauler using a 5fpa caddy. Maulers are very expensive to make, and imo not very useful unless its vs. other melee druids.

Another wrong information. :undecided: the +damage is added along WITH the ed% from items. Or else the Grief won't be so strong anymore, and people would use it as much on many other builds.
let say your grief pb is +400 damage and you are wearing a fort. the damage will be 431- 435 x (1+300%)= 1724- 1740.

Your response sounded contradictory. If the +damage is after ed that seems to me like ed would not multiply it and therefore it wouldnt be very strong. Then you go on to say that you can beat bears with caddy with only one pt in maul. So which is it? Overall grief good or bad?

Sry dint see the post above this was in response too porky thx for answers arb. Still would like to know if someone has actually DONE this and how they faired

I find grief pb as great mauler pvm weapon. I haven't dueled with it yet, but people who did advocate caddy as better option.

Thats what I meant. :) In any case, IMO, a Grief pb > Griz Caddy PvP-wise, but I also made mine for Druidpk's only. For public games, you would need a Griz caddy for the speed.

another question. I know the eth bug of old is long gone but do -25% target defense and ignore target defense do anything in pvp?

-% target defense is halved and ignore target defense does nothing.

Yeah I prolly agree there, for Druid v Druid. I can see vs casters... like a windy or something, you'd prolly want griz to take advantage of stun-lock.

could just have both >.>

I got both. Grief is pretty solid for pvm because of ignore target defense. But from the little ive pvp'd on my bear i had huge ar trouble. I couldnt hit anyone it seemed. Switched some stuff around to wear angelics even though the guide said that lack of deadly strike made that a bad choice. To compensate I put on guillame's face and some steelrends to help dmg.

Haven't got good enough dmg charms yet but even though its pretty weak the maul bear is still fun. When i do get a kill its funny when people are like WTF OMG DIED TO BEAR and that makes me happy in the pants.

Anyone else out there have even mild success witha mauler? Cuz tips would be helpful
Also looking for some 10max GC's with life on east NL if anyone has any hitup *nickman12301 or *nickman1230
