Hey there, I am in the process of building my first smiter for running the ubers. I am wondering what kind of damage output I should be seeing from smite. The gear that I am using right now is:
Wep 1:Grief PB
Shield 1: Exile Vortex
Wep 2: CTA
Shield 2: Lidless (working on a spirit)
Helm: Guilliams Face
Armor: Chains of Honor
Belt: Verdungos
Gloves: Draculs Grasp
Boots: Gore Riders
Ammy: Mara's
Rings: Raven Frost and a Bul-Kathos

What kind of damage should I be seeing here with my smite? I know that a lot of it is unseen with the crushing blow, but I am curious as to how much base damage you normally see. I have Smite, Fanat maxed and am filling defiance and holy shield now.

If you guys could help me out with this, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't worry about it because when running ubers you have life tap from Exile and your grief PB which gives insane smite damage. I think that the smite damage given from Grief isn't actually shown on the character statistics screen. That little character screen can fool you sometimes :). If your looking for base smite damage w/o holy sheild and fant, then your damage should be fairly low compared to when you do Holy sheild and turn on that aura. You also have good Crushing Blow for when you're doing ubers. Overall your basically doing well :) Best wishes on Ubering!

I'm curious, what on the Grief makes it a killer wep for smiteing?

This is my first smiter, please excuse the questions.

You'll see that many smiters use Grief for smiters. Your grief in particular is made out of a PB (Phase Blade) which already gives your attack speed a huge boost compared to when you use a Berserker Axe which is slower than the Phase Blade. Also Grief gives loads of damage that you cannot see on your character screen. The Mod on grief that says: Damage*(Whatever number you have here on your grief) gives substantial damage to your smite. In addition to this, Grief also gives Ignores Targets Defense, Deadly Strike, Prevent Monster Heal (Good for PvM and Ubering), and gives you Venom when attacking which adds to your charge damage but not to your smite. Overall Grief is probably a must when it comes to a fully equipped smiter.

I'm hoping to finish this build this afternoon/night.

Anyone got any advice for me on my first uber run? I was told before to lure Meph out first since his aura will F**k up your resists, and then other than that, its somewhat smooth sailing.

Note that ITD and PMH do not work on the ubers, and Deadly strike doesn't carry to Smite IIRC.

I ran the ubers for the first time last night and it went surprisingly well. I drew out Meph first to get rid of him and his aura (thats what my friend told me to do). I came very close to dying a couple of times, but I stocked up my belt on full rejuvs and brought my hp back up. After that it was pretty easy.

Of course, my first torch and it was a crappy 10/12 Necro torch. O well, I'm just happy that I ran the ubers by myself.

Question for you guys, if there are more than one person in the party and in tristram when I do the run, does more than one torch drop, or is it still just one? My friend wants to run with me next time I am able to go.

Nope just one still. Thats why its best to run it alone and get that torch :)! Best Wishes

use a spirt as your second shield!!!!!!! the added 1 to all skills is a really nice boost!

Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

What level are you? How much life do you have? Did you use a life tap wand?

No life tap wand, it always kicked in just fine, so I didn't see the need in it.

I believe I have somewhere in the area of 2.5k life, but thats just off the top of my head right now.

I'm a lvl 85.

Yes, I realize the spirit as the second shield is what I should be using. I just got a hold of one a couple of nights ago and haven't been able to move it from one character to another.

Thanks for the reply. How did you get 2.5k life? I'm lvl 79 and I only have 1100 life.
