HDIN and Smite?

Hey All,

i know there are comments on this in many places. But i wana make sure of it before i go and add the skill points etc. I have a 93hdin which i use for keys and mf.

shako
nigma
hoto
spirit (sac targe)
mara
arach
2x 10cast ring
magefist
war trav.

No Pcombat gcs, just anni/torch.

He hits the final 125 bp and does 10k hammers. Which is fine cause as mentioned im pvm. My question is, after readin around the forums i heard the standard cookie cutter hdin (which i believe i have?) can 1 point smite/fana and actually do ubers with some gear changin. I would rather combine my hdin with a smiting capability rather then just havin 2 seperate chars.

So in stash i would need:
draculs
guillems face
grief (pb or zerker ???)
gorerider or goblin toe ??? (prolly gore, but i read goblin toe somewhere)

now i dont know the smite dmg with a sacred targe spirit but i was thinkin that if i did what im proposin, then i should swap out the spirit for hoz (which my current smiter has). That still leaves me hittin the 75 fcr bp which i hope is just fine for pvm (mf, keys, chaos runs... etc). I know 125 was fun and prefered in pvp but in pvm (plz tell me if im wrong) 75 is enough.


SO what it all sums up to is...

can i take my hdin and with the gear changes mentioned (which will be kept in sash) and only a SINGLE point into smite/fana (obviously +skills) and torch/anni (no gcs) can i effeciently (SAFE & FAST) kill ubers?

Yep. With that gear you can do it. Guill's + Gores = 50% CB which is enough, Grief fuels your base Smite damage, and Dracs takes care of Life Tap. 1pt Fanaticism (with +skills) with GriefPB should give be enough IAS for max Smite speed too.

You could keep a Treachery armour in your stash too for CTC Fade if you need the res to offset Conviction's -125%. You could even use 1pt Salvation too if you need to against Meph, only if you need the resists.

Don't worry about the shield's Smite damage. Think about it. The shield makes up an average 46 damage. Grief's part is 340-400 damage. Chalk and cheese.

My hammerdin has 1 pt into smite/fant, and by swapping out the hoto, magefists, boots, and one of my rings with shael'd stormlash, dracs, goblin toe, and a raven frost he is able to do izzy, duri, and lilith with no problem. However because he is wearing enigma (as opposed to say coh) he is hurting for res when with mephs conv is on, swapping out my shako for kiras, and maybe pre-casting fade solves this problem though and he is able to do uber trist fine.

Arutha: my pure smiter from before actually uses nigma too, just had to get lota res charms. But as Eilo had said, usin treachery to cast fade can boost ur res a lot.

I am basically gona post questions as they come to me:

1.) i remember readin that smite has a 95% chance to hit. Would this mean that i do not need duel raven frosts (and i could keep the sojs on from the hammer setup) or other forms of AR? Now im thinkin maybe just one to eliminate the chance of being frozen.

2.) one of my old smiters used Last Wish (pb) to really stick it to the ubers life bar (mad CB). But as mentioned that was a pure smiter. If i used LW now with only 1 point (and +skills) into smite would it bring enough dmg to have the same effect as my old smiter did (granted CB and dmg are two differnt things)? Also in regards to this topic, i remember how fast the ubers life went down using LW (due to CB) but the last sliver-ish was difficult cause LW just dun pack a punch. So i was gona have grief on swap (put it in CTA's slot after i cast BO). That should take away the remainin sliver of life from the ubers? I would have LW with my HOZ on primary and on switch the sac targe (spirit) with grief. Would i do enough dmg with the spirit shield / grief to remove the remainin life from the ubers. Basically what im gettin stuck on is the fact that im only usin 1 pnt into smite (granted +skills). So i feel that my smite gona be weak. I know grief has the hidden dmg and is all around fast/powerful which is why i question could i pull off usin LW to bring the ubers down to minimal life before i weapon switch to grief/spirit and pick up the torch =]

The only swap gear I throw on my Hammerdin to complete Ubers are as follows:

*7/15'd(and upped for sex appeal) Kira's--85 resists, 37% FHR, CBF.
*Grief PB--Damage, damage, and more damage.
*Dracs--Life Tap FTW.
*Gores--My only source of CB, no need for more honestly.

If you think any harder about it than this, you're wasting time that you could be getting torches.

ur point is more then valid. My current smiter (pure smite) only has CB from goreriders and does more then enough dmg (grief) to wipe ubers safely. I was over thinking it. I guess i was just under estimating the 1 point wonder of smite/fana.

One final question though. So if smite has 95% chance to hit, i can just leave my sojs on?

If you have no other source of CBF, use a Ravenfrost. No need for AR/Dex, so use a crappy one. I use Kira's, which serves double-duty.

hmm.. IIRC all elite pally shields have a mean dmg of 46, so it really doesnt matter..
