Hey guys,
I played Diablo pretty much for the first two years it came out, then moved on to Warcraft 3 to follow the Blizzard chain. I played a little bit when 1.09 happened (Back when Windforces, Shaftstops, Vamp Gazes, PDSCs, and Cruel Colossus Blades were considered high-end), but didn't play at all when 1.10 came along, meaning I've pretty much missed out on all the craze.
So I've come back and made an mf light sorc and a pvm/pvp light trapsin for kicks, but since I've always played a paladin for all of my pvp endeavours, I wish to continue the trend. If I can remember correctly, PvP back in my day wasn't nearly as serious...now all of these builds have been given names and whatnot. I've done quite a bit of research and, frankly, there's so many options that I'm coming cold. I probably don't plan on joining any hardcore dueling/pvping guilds or whatnot, but I do intend to duel as much as I can against good players. I also want a bit of a challenge and a build that is versatile, meaning having as few dead matchups as possible while still maintaining a level of fun and strategy.
My gut instinct was to go for the traditional templar and just FoH scrubs into oblivion. After further research, templars are shunned because of their one-dimensional playstyle (which is easily negated by resistance stacking), which then led me to the V/T build. From there I saw mention of difficulty fighting desynching Hammerdins. Then I found that Hammerdins were overall the best paladin archetype. Their playstyle, however, is quite stale and not exactly what I'm looking for. Further research bore a bunch of random "other" builds, such as avengers, zealots, crusaders, pure smiters, liberators, mages....there's just too many. In the end I think I wanted to go with the V/T because it offered versatility and a playstyle that doesn't rely on using just one skill.
So I was just wondering how good the general paladin populace thinks VT's are, and if there were any up to date guides on VTs. I hear a lot of talk about using Grief and whatnot...just wondering how much of the build you'd have to change to accommodate that. Sorry if these are pretty noob questions ^^.
Also, there's hardly any discussion on crusaders...is it a bad build?
Cheers.
