Couple of questions:
1) How expensive is a rift runeword to repair? I seem to recall zeal really beating up weapons and if it is going to cost me 200k every time I turn around to repair weapon then I will just make VoR in PB and be done with it
2) How much better is rift than VoR? I realize that rift has higher frozen orb, but will that make a lot of difference?
3) Given that I already have a gul from a hell forge, should I spend the time to find socketable scepter for rift, or just make VoR and use gul to trade for other gear or put into another RW?

Thanks

PS. By the way, this will be a conviction zealot... I think it looks more fun than conviction avenger, especially since gul is about the only thing I have worth much of anything.

Heya,

Phase blade all the way--it's faster than anything else you can zeal with which is what you ultimately want--you're not dealing physical damage here, so don't stress the physical side. Stress speed and accuracy. That takes care of repair problems too.

Rift has higher Orb output, so it is better in terms of that kind of damage. But VoR is so great in itself too, with cannot be frozen, and blast/orb as well for considerably cheaper. I'd say make VoR in a Phaseblade now, and see how you like it. If you feel you need more juice, go to Rift.

Personally on my conviction zealot, I use VoR because I like the gear freedom it gives me.

Cheers,

1. VoR is best in a Phase Blade. Fast and indestructible. You know that's how Zealots like their weapons. :wink3: If you make a "Rift," stick it in a 4-socket plain War Scepter or Caduceus. Any staff mods on the War Scepter or Caduceus will make you cry when it comes to repair time.

2. "Rift" will proc more FOs and higher level ones than "VoR" *but* as MalVeauX mentions, I find that "Voice of Reason" in a PB has a lot of charm of its own. Really nice stats for such low runes, which means you don't have to be rolling in HRs to make a pretty powerful Zealot. And you're walking around with an icy blue sword that does exactly what it looks like it should do. "VoR" also provides a lot of frozen enemies (via Ice Blast), shattered corpses, equipment flexibility, and can hit 5 or 4 fpa Zeal rather easily. (Ignore my 4 fps Zeal mistake in the thread I'm linking to below. It should be 4 fpa Zeal, not 4 fps Zeal.) With fast Zeal, Frozen Orbs and Ice Blasts spam across the screen beautifully, stuff turns blue, and dies.

3. What MalVeauX said. Can't say it any better myself.

I wonder how expensive a War Scepter with +1 zeal would be to repair. Is it going to be close to the price of a cadaceus with the same mods? Because War Scepters have the same durability, sockets, and weapon speed as a cadaceus.

+1 to VoR PB. Easy to reach fastest Zeal/Smit(if you will) BP. I have one in lvl77 now. He is doing very will in Hell Act1/2 now. With some CB (I am using Gore and G-face), he is also a fast boss killer :) I am enjoying the conviction zealot so far. He only need 54 skill points to finish the basic build (4 point zeal, 20 HS and 20 Conviction and pre-reqs). I have 25+ non used skill points now (will decide later what to put them).

I'll suggest VoR for you and Rift for your merc :) You don't worry about the fixing cost and will have lots of orbs going on.

Chien

Oh.. Rift has higher orb and cast on attacking (no need to really hit) and VoR has CBF, -24% CR (help after you break the cold immune in hell mode) but cast on striking (not really a big problem since lvl20+ conviction will ensure you hit easily as long as your level is not too low). It is a though choice for sure.

One question, will VoR PB has too much physical damage that IM from OK's will kill the character?

chien

I think so, I've got killed by IM couple times :(

I see. But I think there is no solid enhance damage on VoR besides the enhanced damage to demon and undead, where the ED vs. demon and undead works differently ie the ED is treat like off weapon ED, which means the damage shouldn't be too high?

Not really sure how. But, I do have ~110 strength (will be ED,right?) and about 50% CB. So, 33 (mean damage of PB) X (1+110%+365%) = ~190. With fast zeal (4frames), 1 round of zeal, I die (yeah, I admit my life is only like 700 :P). Oh, I have Highlord ammy with %DS, too. I might be able to survive one round of zeal if my life is >1k (with fade triggered).

I think CB has nothing to do with IM, but the DS is.
But seriously... what level is your paladin? 700 life is kinda low.

Oh.. he is lvl77 now. Yeah, I still have ~100 unused stat points. I'll pour all of them to vita once I make sure that I don't need to put points to dex and strength anymore. To equip G-face/T-god and PB, many points go to strength and dex :p for now.

That means he will have ~1.1k life when level 90 I suppose. Are you geared properly?

Also what realm you play on?

I am in ESCL. Here are the gears:
G-face (no socket yet)
Treachery Curiass
Lava Gout (might use Dracul since I have enough IAS)
Tiamat's Shield with P-Diamond (hope to get dream shield some day :P)
Gore Rider
1x Raven frost
1x dwarf
Highlord's ammy
T-god belt

Some small/large/grand life charms and a 12/18 zon torch for stats and some fire damage and some resist charms.

My merc:
Act5
Lawbringer legend blade.
Treachery in eth armor.
V-gaze

One question, will VoR PB has too much physical damage that IM from OK's will kill the character?

It can, but it could also depend on setup as Chien mentioned. When running my last "VoR" Zealot, I was using a Highlord's, Goreriders, etc. setup and I'd die after being IMed. However, eventually, I think I could survive 1-2 Zeals with IM on after I was 80+, 1200+ life, and had a 32% PDR and 7 DR with final equipment.
