What are the odds for her to drop a key. I have found 3 keys in about 10 runs... is that good, or just normal
And what is the highest rune she can drop.

Thx in advance:wink3:

iirc its 1/32 to drop a key. yeah 3 keys in 10 is alright.

HIghest rune I know but not quite sure, so better leave that to the experts

About countess rune drops:

The countess has a special rune drop ability that goes up to Ist on hell.
Outside the special rune drop, she can yield up to Lo.

Thx so far all.
I was wondering
Is it better to run her without any MF EQ. I just put on Skullders, and know she drops much crappier items than before.
Or is it just bad luck

iirc its 1/32 to drop a key. yeah 3 keys in 10 is alright.that 1/32 number is pretty far off. 1/13 is a good approximation in a 1 player game.

As for rarity, You'll get 3 keys in 10 runs roughly roughly 1 time in 33 sets of 10 runs.

Bad luck.

More mf always equates to higher quality items (more likely to be magical, set, rare, or unique) and the countess is no different. However, the goals for items, keys, and runes can be a bit conflicting. MF gear will most likely slow down the speed of your runs and won't increase your chances at runes or keys. As a result, mf isn't a bad thing but shouldn't be gained at the sacrifice of efficiency granting gear because runes and keys are definitely what the countess is all about.

Also, if you consider player settings (or the number of players in the game), they hurt your chances at runes but increase your chances at keys and items. In other words, you definitely have some decisions to make concerning the number of players in the game and gear you want to wear. Again, as long as mf doesn't seriously slow you down then it's fine, however, player settings should be optimized for what your primary goal is, keys or runes. If you want runes choose a low number of players (preferably 1) and if you want keys/items then a high player setting is preferable.

Should I have MF on during my Countess runs?
NO!!! - if you're only after runes. Here's why (short answer): MF does not affect rune drops. Also MF does not help you survive or kill faster.

The long answer explains my opinion somewhat more.

If you're focused on finding runes from the Countess, the only thing that you should worry about is minimizing your average time per successful run. What I mean by 'successful run' is any run that you can successfully collect any/all of the runes that dropped. If you die along the way, obviously it's going to slow you down. MF gear is not focused on providing the best survival options, therefore removing all MF gear and using survival gear is more likely to help make you successful when you encounter those nasty double/triple archer packs (more on that subject below).

Remember, with +life, +mana, FCR, +skills, +FHR, +FR/W and several other things you'll kill faster, survive longer, and travel quicker. There's always room for improvement. MF does not provide any real benefit to any of these areas. If you're after S/U items, there are about 10 other targets that are equal to, or better than, the Countess.

What About /Players settings?
Essentially, you want to minimize the number of other players in the game. In Single-Player, that means using /players1 exclusively. Do not run the Countess on /players8 if you want to collect runes. The reason is how the Countess drops items:

Without getting too in-depth, basically the Countess has two item-drop-checks. The first drop-check that occurs is a (mostly) normal item drop, which is why she likes to throw Town Portal scrolls all over the place when you kill her. The second drop-check that occurs is her special rune drop. Combining these two drops, the maximum number of total items she can drop at one time is 6.

If you increase your /players settings, it increases the chance that the Countess will drop more items in her first item-drop. You don't want her to throw out 6 different items during this drop because the odds of them being armor, weapons, gems, or whatever, is high - and the odds of receiving a rune from the first drop are minimal. If she drops 5 items from the first check, that means that she is only capable of dropping a single rune from the second drop check - and you want her to drop multiple runes.

And before you ask, no, there is nothing you can do to inhibit the first drop-check and encourage the second one. The best you can do is try to limit the number of items spawned in the first drop, so that if you're lucky with the second one, it will be able to spawn all of the runes it can. Hence /players1.
