Would this char be any good with amazing gear?
Im looking for something different to do...
i want him to be effective pvp and pvm =p

this is the gear layout i thought of:

Helm: Crown of Ages corona (+1 to all skills, 30 fhr, nice defense, resis, and damage reduction)

Armor: My best bet here would probably be a nice fort ap cuz of great dmg bonus(300%) and 30 resis and a nice lifer mod

Shield: This is probably the most important part of this build i would suggest a phoenix shield made in a pally shield with some nice resis also based on how it takes away 28% of ur enemies fire resis added with a nice firestorm mod and fire absorbs u cud kick some *** lol

Weapon: There are lots of ways u can go here but i would suggest a phoenix zerker for the reduced fire resis of ur enemies, ignore targets def another firestorm mod deadly strike and fire absorbs

Belt: Dungos (damage reduction + nice life), String of ears (life leech, and damage reduction), or nosferatus coil ( 10% ias, life leech, slows target by 10% and 15 to str)

Gloves: Maybe some steelrends(60% ed + 10% crushing blow) or hellmouth war gaunlets (more firestorm and fire absorb)

Boots: the most likely boot i would choose for this build is gore rider war boots(crushing blow + deadly strike)

Ammy: Maras Kaleidescop( +2 to all skils, and nice resis) or metalgrid (35 def + a nice def bonus)

Rings: Either good dual leech rings with resis or 2 bks( + 1 to all skills and Life leech)

U deffinetly want a torch(try to aim for high resis)
And a high resis anni

Skills:
20 to salvation
20 to resist fire
20 to vengeance
20 to fanatacism
20 to holy shield
7 prequisite points

Merc Gear:

Helm: eth vgaze( dual leech + damage reduction)

Armor: An eth fort with 30 resis( this is where your mercs main damage comes from)

Weapon: Obedience- Hel Ko Thul Eth Fal
30% to cast lvl 21 enchantwhen u kill an enemy
40 fhr
370% enhanced dmg
-25% to target def
-25% to enemy fire resis
40% of crushing blow
200-300 def
str and dex
20-30 resis
-20% requirements

That pretty much completes this char.
PLz tell me what u think.
would this build be effective or not in hell?
remeber this is only an idea and the gear costs a buttload,
but if youre rich like me and looking for something different to do
then might as well give it a shot
thanx for reading this crappy guide
and plz tell me if there can be any improvements on gear
cuz once i make this char i dont want to be dissapointed
also this chars only main weakness is resis really but if u can get passed that u should be cruisin lol

Obediance on merc won't increase your fire damage since the -res is only applied to merc's attacks. Infinity is better.

Just some notes:

Fortitude will increase the physical damage that you deal, but it will not increase your Vengeance damage.

I don't think Phoenix works with any Pally build other than a Charger/Zealot. You'll find the Firestorm interruptions really annoying.

Like before, Steelrends will not affect Vengeance damage, only physical.

You want some IAS and some ML to sustain your attacks too.

that guide has a good explanation of what damage bonuses vengeance will benefit from.

btw usually i thought an avenger would use conviction aura. that's the build i'm (slowly) working on. haven't decided whether to max vengeance or go 1-point vengeance with maxed synergies. you lose teh bonus to attack rating though....

It's good to keep in mind that maxed vengeance is a mana hog. I've had better luck with 1pt + skills. The AR bonus can come from a self-enchant from Demon Limb, which has the added benefit that your fire damage is multiplied by the Conviction effect as well.

Don't forget that maxing lightning resist gives you an extra 10% passive max resist bonus.

does enchant target the character or the weapon? so if i use demon limb to enchant myself, can i switch weapons and still get the bonus?

Enchant is for the character, not the weapon. So if you enchant yourself with Demon Limb and then switch weapons, you'll still have the enchant fire damage and AR bonus. A high-level enchant lasts pretty long, as well.

I've never tried an Avenger myself, but I belief the main problem of a Vengeance build is the mana cost of Vengeance when maxed. Your gear doesn't really solve this problem.

That's why you stick only a few points in it (or just 1), then try to max out the 3 Resist auras like Garisdacar said.

Also, no need to worry about not getting the AR bonus.....Conviction reduces enemy defense by a lot

btw i've noticed with manald heal ring and Insight on merc, i have no mana problems, using base energy attribute, and i'm clvl40 now. building it as a 1pt Avenger + Conviction (although not working on maxing conviction until i get to Hell or at least act 4 NM).
