it will give you lowdown on characters items etc,I suggest single player to start and get the feel of how the game works,also theres a bunch of stickies on this forum to help you out.If you purchased the battle chest combo there should be a book that came with it,tells you all the commands and allotta basics.Next thing is to read the forum newcomer forum is great for new players (and seasoned)There is literally nothing that isnt discussed on here.
By the way check ur pants and wallet,they tend to dissapear around here.

A manual should have come with your CDs, read up on that first. Then you could visit the character forums here and review some of the guides to get an idea of how to build a character. After that it is trial and error to figure out how to play.
